I've gone with 'Knowing the enemy' (as there is no 'Massive shoulder cannons' option).

I've gone with 'Knowing the enemy' (as there is no 'Massive shoulder cannons' option). Funny Uncle Bob never got round to using the motto "Massive shoulder cannons are the key to victory" on any of his tech-specs. Though I admit there are three options in this poll that do not match TF toy tech-spec mottos. Two of them ('Placing brains before brawn' and 'Sausages') have two votes apiece. The one that reflects the motto of the British Ministry of Agriculture in WWII has yet to score a vote. Martin

Can we have another thread where people discuss the absolute worst mottos? (all of which will no doubt come from Euro G2).

It's a draw between Jetfire and Ultra Magnus. "Among mysteries of science lies the key to victory." / "Consistency is victory." (Or, if you combine the two - among the mysteries of science lies the key to consistency.) Ultra Magnus's victory is somewhat marred by the fact that he doesn't know how to spell 'consistency'. I love the 'what could have been' with his motto, and Galvatron's. Their universe entries are blandly derived from the movie, but the tech specs clearly predate Budianski knowing about the film plot. So as toys they match their Scramble City versions as the base commanders for Metroplex and Trypticon. What stories are there untold there, where Galvatron isn't Megatron, but a scheming rival with the power of Trypticon behind him. Far more powerful than Starscream.

Yes! I've thought that! What if the Movie hadn't happened or had had a different story, and UM and Galvatron get to be the characters as depicted in their Techspecs.

It's a weird anomaly. I mean, we seem to know that the movie toys were designed by Hasbro to be movie characters, so why was Budianski on a different tack when he did those two? Magnus you can see being initially intended to be part of the special teams setup, and then in the film technically he is the field commander in charge of Autobot City, so there's kind of an evolution of the idea there. But Galvatron changes to a completely different character.

I think the tech-specs were written as they were so as not to spoil the plot.
I read Galvatron's tech-specs in the shop before I read the big reveal about his origin in 'Target: 2006'. It would have ruined the story for me if it had revealed he was a future version of Megatron.
