The weird thing is - I've never really seen Dirge, Ramjet and Thrust as having actual earth modes to begin with.

WHAT.
That's... a cockpit? no... really? Is it? Oooh.

WHAT. That's... a cockpit? no... really? Is it? Oooh. Bumblebee and Jazz's sunbow cybertronian modes had cabins, too. This was going to be a plotpoint in War Within, but DW went belly up before they got the chance to explore it.

The silliest Cybertron modes are the Triggerbots in the 4,000,000 BC Marvel comics story 'The Flames of Boltax' who are recognisable models of 20th Century Earth vehicle (a Porsche 962-based Le Mans racing car, a Grumman X-29 fighter jet and a Suzuki touring motorcycle). But it's a computer simulation of past events, so the silliness can be explained away by blaming the computer for mixing things up. Martin

Bumblebee and Jazz's sunbow cybertronian modes had cabins, too. Good point, but so did Wheeljack and he was big enough in van mode for Bee to stand inside him. So maybe the cockpits are for Transformers.

Siege has taught us these are perfectly acceptable Cybertron modes.

It is a basic universal truth that every so often, the Porsche 962 Le Mans racing car spontaneously and independently happens to evolve.

That 'box' will always be Optimus Primes true Cybertronian mode to me. Doesn't need to look like anything resembling a vehicle to us, just be functional for what it needs to do.
Do we have a thread just discussing Cybertronian modes?

Doesn't Wheeljack actually have a dashboard, steering wheel and radio mic in his cabin too in Arrival From Cybertron?

Yep. And do we see a tetra jet interior as well, or just a POV?

Fusion's a similar model of vehicle, maybe smaller - look at the similarities: Martin

TFWiki's great. I never realised before today how much of the art in 'And There Shall Come a Leader' was copied from other comics and cartoons. Martin

I know the WFC and FOC toys are all Cybertron modes - plus the BB, Cliffjumper, Thundercracker and Skywarp in T30 - but what other Cybertron mode toys are there?

All the 1987 Headmasters, Targetmasters, Springer, Technobots, Jumpstarters, original Pretenders etc. I wonder why (storywise) Fort Max's Autobots felt they didn't need to have Earth modes when they came to our planet when most other arrivals needed to be altered to blend in? Because most of them effectively had 'human' modes perhaps?

Because most of them effectively had 'human' modes perhaps? They weren't exactly trying to blend in. And maybe couldn't see a need after having lived amongst and with other humans from a different planet for so long. Galan was definitely all we must find the Autobots rather than obey an Autobot equivalent of the Prime Directive. Took him a while to realise the consequences of Autobots in Earth.
