With such a big milestone, do we think this will be something special? And from G1.
I can't think it will be another Megatron or Prime given recent releases, but you gotta think it's a leader... Galvatron perhaps?

Seeing as everyone thought MP25 would be a big A lister - and it was Tracks - who knows. They also missed a trick not making Megatron MP38. Unless that was actually intentional.

One would have thought they'd hold off on the third Optimus Prime for 50

They also missed a trick not making Megatron MP38. Ha! If they start redoing the G1 cars they can get stuffed. Plus the Fairlady-Zs are perfect the way they are already, a great balance of toy, toon and real world appearance. I think this wait for Omega Supreme is getting to you.

IIRC MP2 was a Brave toy (the original idea for MP being that it would be about different toy lines) and there have also been extra toys with a letter or plus sign added so I wouldn't ascribe any special significance to the number 50.

I bet MP-50 will be a slightly minor repaint of the new Prime

Im thinking we're about due another Starscream. Grimlock still holds up okay and the rest of the original MPs have been redone apart from Starscream.

But the second was just a remould of the first.

I'd love a Galvatron (and then in toy/comic colours) but know it would cost over £160, so wouldn't end up getting it. I wish they'd do away with the extreme accessories.

It'll definitely be Starscream. I know we've already had two MP see- attack jet molds, but we've also had two Optimus Primes. And you know how much Takara like keeping things not that varied...

As pointed out above, there's only been one mold. The original, and a fairly minor retool.
My genuine guesses are Starscream or Ginrai/PMOP

My genuine guesses are Starscream or Ginrai/PMOP See, I was thinking Ginrai, but aside from a later repackage with God Bomber, what repaint potential is there? Nucleon Quest is it. And I think it would be too expensive, even without God Bomber. Unless you're looking at just the cab, but who wants that? Although a Powermaster or Headmaster is yet to be done in Masterpiece, so it would be good to get something from those lines. The animation models though from Headmasters leave a lot to be desired, perhaps it's best if Takara take more cues from the box art and toys on this one. History has shown that not real world toys look quite plain looking as MP though, so I'd rather S1-S2 vehicles. We also don't have a masterpiece triple changer... An Octane, Blitzwing or Astrotrain would be welcome. But let's be honest, it's probably Cliffjumper.

Animation models from sunbow leave just as much to be desired.
And we never would have thought that they'd charge $300 for bw megatron, or nearly $500 for a very basic and underdetailed G1 Optimus, but this is the new reality for MP prices. If Optimus + trailer and roller can be half a grand, so can a Ginrai/pmop optimus. I mean, they pulled the same gimmick off with Ultra Magnus.

Well PMOP in general would be simpler engineering than MP44, so I guess maybe they could pull it off. It's not like MP44 trailer is completely simple afterall.
