The more I think about it, the more I think "transmetal cheetor retool" is just wild speculation and not a sure thing. Even my own previous certainty based on this being a thing that exists.
And why do I think that now? Because if they were always intending on doing a Transmetal retool, especially if they had the toolings ready as a pretool, then why wouldn't they use the Transmetal parts on Ravage, here? Not only would it tie into the original toy, which has become iconic in its own right, it would work better with his mechanical appearance in the show, and just look a bit better in general.

I think you could be right, but on the positive side the current team really does seem to be happy to retool moulds on the go, or even just extensively reuse engineering (or even whatever the hell you'd call what they did with Earth-mode Mirage!). There seems to be so much interest in a TM Cheetor I really think they're more likely to do it than not.
Oh, and that Ravage really looks amazing from those photos! I was lukewarm before but I'm now hoping to find that release...

Hurrah! Possibly not quite the headache to get hold of that I was fearing! Also, she's available on ID, Star, all the usual places which might actually deliver, too. Since this "exclusive" toy is showing up everywhere, I'll have to check to see if my local FP will be getting her in exclusively, too... Probably will - A1 have already advertised they'll have her in stock. Jonathan

And I do expect it to turn up at FP - I don't think that they generally have much of an idea as to what they're going to receive in terms of merch - I think they just open up the boxes that they receive and put it on the shelves...

Well that isn't fair! I got an email just this morning telling me the delivery of Mirage / Grimlock would be delayed until 22nd September. Surely for EU stock us EU residents should have priority over you third country types! Typically, I saw TF Robots had it in stock so put in an order with them with the intention of canceling the Amazon DE order once the new one was on its way and _of course_ Amazon dispatched theirs during the night. This earth-mode Mirage I wasn't so sure about is certainly causing me a lot of trouble... My only consolation is that Road Rage is in the TF Robots order... Well, that consolation was a double-edged sword... This is my first experience of the Tracks mould, and it really is a bit problematic isn't it? I mean it's gorgeous, at least in the form of Road Rage, but those legs and the reliance on a big piece of translucent plastic really let it down. Transformation has a few clever things going on, but at the same time is a bit terrifying because of that plastic. And the tabs and posts that theoretically hold the side panels of the legs in place in all three modes are woefully inadequate. Bit awkward to pose as well. All of which a shame, because it really is a beautiful deco.

Tracks/Road Rage falls into the category of 'looks nice on a shelf' rather than 'fun toy to play with'.

Definitely.
Also just realised that the fist holes are slightly more than 5mm, so weapons are quite loosely held. All in all a bit of a misstep. But a very pretty one.

Tracks/Road Rage falls into the category of 'looks nice on a shelf' rather than 'fun toy to play with'. -Ralph Did you manage to TF it (or Scorponok) while you were here? The whole of Kingdom w3 Deluxe feels a bit of a misfire. Tracks has issues, Wingfinger isn't as good as the other fossilisers and Scorponok is just tiny & meh.

I did not attempt to TF your Tracks as the big chunk of painted see-through plastic gave me The Fear.

While I was having trouble getting off last night I decided to TF Kingdom Scorponok.
Now we've already established that it's a bit small and looks meh.
But when you start to touch it your realise how fragile it is. The legs fall off if you look at them funny let alone brush against them: I realised last night one was missing which I found the other side of the room this morning. No idea when that fell off!
The TF itself is .... odd. One leg goes up the back of the tail, the other under the body. I can see what they're going for there as it elevates the body off the ground making it look like the legs are supporting it but it makes the body shape look so wrong.
Not fun and not good

Speculation and prediction time! I speculate that the current trend in leader class is to prepare us for a soft price increase that will take effect in WfC3 or in the follow up line. Here's my reasoning- the main figures have dropped in size from oldschool ultras, down to voyagers with accessories. Siege Ultra Magnus and Galaxy Optimus both basically do the exact same thing as PotP Leaders, but on a smaller scale (referring to the parts to create the super modes being much less involved, and much smaller). Astrotrain basically comes with a small box and extra guns. ER Optimus comes with a larger, but flimsier and more simplistic box, and one extra (really neat) gun. We don't know yet what Doubledealer involves. What I think will happen, in WfC3 or the following line, will be a slight increase in size of the main figure (head taller than Voyagers), and dropping the accessories, while keeping the price the same. This is basicaly what they did with the Legend Class. Okay so, figure prediction time. I predict as everyone else that the line will be 86 Movie based. Titan Class: · Unicron or Cybertron Leader Class: · Ultra Magnus- either all new mold, or retooling of Earthrise Optimus. More accurate, and of course completely nullifying Siege Magnus. There's ample evidence in Earthrise to support the plausibility of this. Voyager Class: · Galvatron- new mold · Scourge- New mold. For some reason both hasbro and fans want the movie 'con trio all the same size. But this also makes him a candidate for being passed over. (See below) · Conehead- Retool of ER Starscream. Unsure which one. · Blaster- New mold or retool or parts reuse of Siege Soundwave. He's due. Deluxe Class: · Bumblebee- new mold. Same style as Cliffjumper. Retooled into Goldbug.· Wreck-Gar- New mold. He's way past due. The last real one was a dirt bike, and the CW one looks nothing like him, head aside. Junkheap/Junkion retool.· Hotrod- New mold. We got a great one in TR, a serviceable sunbow one that turns into Rodimus in PotP, and Rodimus will likely be in this line. So of course we'll get a new Hotrod. Possible Omnibot Overdrive retool.· Blurr- New mold. TR was borderline perfect. So another pointless do-over seems likely. · Ratchet- new mold. Seems logical, given what we've seen. Ironhide retool.· Jazz*- Retool of ER Datsun. · Skids*- New Mold. He's due. · Erector, Flattop, Overdrive, Roughstuff- New molds. I believe these will replace weaponizers. Micromasters with trailers that partsform into powersuits for the micromasters. Unknown class: Could be either voyager or leader · Sandstorm- new mold. He's well past due. He's the only triplechanger who hasn't gotten a recent update. · Rodimus Prime- fully integrated voyager, or leader who's "trailer" becomes weaponizer armor. skips: ER has shown us that Warden's team leaves us frustrated. They either go for the most redundant choice, or skip over characters that align most with the line's themes. I predict that WfC3's general disappointment will be more in passing over complete sets of characters. · Kup- his TR figure wasn't great. I think he'll be skipped in lue of a pointless Hotrod. · Cyclonus vs Scourge- One of them will be done. One will be skipped. Like I said, fans seem to want Scourge, Cyclonus, and Galvatron all the same size (like Megatron, Starscream, and Soundwave). It's ten years since the last decent Cyclonus. However, Scourge has never been a voyager. This could really go either way. *Inferno, Jazz, Tracks, and Skids are the last 84/85 autobot cars left. -Inferno will happen. There's no question in that. -My friend theorized that the ER datsun mold is a pretool of Jazz. That seems really likely given what speculating here -Tracks is an easy retool of ER Runamuck, now that we know Sunstreaker comes from Wheeljack. -That leaves Skids. Skids has a potential Armada Red Alert repaint for Gen Select. Hmmm. It's really interesting how things panned out compared to my predictions. I got a lot right. Almost all of it actually, i just didn't see it being split in half between Kingdom and Studio Series. In hindsight Tracks would have been a better toy as a Runa-retool. I also wish the micromaster trailers as weaponizer armor for the micromaster happened, that's actually a pretty cool idea. Though not at the cost of the fossilizers.

Well, they didn't frustrate us too much by denying us either Cyclonus or Scourge. Although given the figures were rather bizarrely split across lines, it nearly happened...

Cyclonus & Scourge have each had 3 new mould remakes. They have NEVER been in the same line: Universe 2 and Generations
Combiner Wars & Titans Return
Kingdom and Studio Series 86

Got Skywarp, Sideswipe, and Tricranius today.
Tricranius is gorgeous, but has almost every problem associated with translucent plastic- loose joints/hinges (everything around the beast hip piece), ill-fitting parts (frill, 5mm ports), soft rubbery plastic that paint doesn't adhear too and thus becomes tacky (horns and tail). He sure is pretty though.
Skywarp is about as nice as you'd expect. What irritates me is they did the bare minimum, when it wouldn't have taken much to knock him out of the park. Swords and a new bald eagle based beast head that turning upside down so the underside forms a more accurate chest. That's all. Loose wings are kinda floppy. I don't know if this is to address people complaining about Airazor's wings being too stiff, or if it's a QC/mold degradation issue. He's a nice redeco who's not as good as it could have been, but better than others.
Sideswipe is a bit of a surprise. He is very much an improvement over the original, and torques me off because this is what he should have been from the start. All the parts fit better in alt mode. No terrible weathering deco. Both gun and shoulder launcher.
Sideswipe might actually steal the show, as I was not looking forward to him at all, and considered him forced on me.
