I'd not realised that his chest was fake - although that seems to be true of the Siege version also. But no hole to shoulder mount his missile? From a Sunbow-obsessed line this seems... like an odd decision.

Yeah, they both have fake chests. The new one at least attempts to hide it in vehicle mode though.
The placement of the hole for the rocket launcher is baffling though.

It turns out Sideswipe's shoulder launcher fixes a problem that shouldn't have existed. If you plug it into the port on his back and angle it, it gives you a port for Mirage's missile launcher.

So Skywarp retains Airazor's weapons, instead of his swords.
And given he's packed with Sideswipe, who's extensively retooled, means that Skywarp likely has very little retooling, if any at all.

I was correct about Skywarp, but he looks better than I thought.
Sideswipe just looks redundant as hell, which speaks more to the stupidity of the Siege toy than it does this one.

I have ordered even though I have Siege Sideswipe. God there are a lot of this mould now!
Can we expect a Hound doublepack to finish the lineup you think?

While not out of the question, Hound has never been in the leaks, or even in the rumor mill.
So going exclusively by rumors, Hound isn't in the pipeline any time soon.

Having had a look at these photos next to SiegeSwipe, this is a tough call. The robot modes are nigh on identical bar the car bonnet. The remoulding is all in the car panels again like Mirage. At least Mirage has a transformation tweak and you can see the car remoulding in the robot mode; Earthmode Sideswipe's robot just looks like a battle damage free repaint.

One thing's for sure, unless they give it the proper deco (which, let's be honest, they won't), this has killed any inclination I had about fretting over aquiring the rumored upcoming Walgreens earth mode Red Alert.

WFC 42 is the highest WFC number so far for Kingdom. If we assume the 31-36 gap is the w4 Deluxe & Voyagers, who is WFC-K38 & WFC-K41? WFC-K30 F1152 The Ark with Mainframe WFC-K31 WFC-K32 WFC-K33 WFC-K34 WFC-K35 WFC-K36 WFC-K37 F1624 T-Wrecks (Target) WFC-K38 WFC-K39 F1617 Tricranius with Blast Effects (Pulse) WFC-K40 F1209 Mirage & Grimlock (Amazon) WFC-K41 WFC-K42 F1208 Sideswipe & Maximal Skywarp (Amazon) 41 is particularly interesting as it is sandwiched between TWO Amazon Battle Across Time exclusives. Intuitively that makes me think K41 *should* be one too...... But I don't think there's even one rumoured. A Hound set would be a logical choice...... and Hound vs Buzzsaw might make logical sense (BW repaint with G1 name) given the previous two. Buzzsaw has also not shown up on a rumour list and that's an easy repaint.... |
