I do wish there was proper PPE for medical and social workers. Including masks. Which regularly Joe on the street should not be wearing and using up.

Got up at 6:30am to get back to the OU essay. On reviewing the first half it wasn't as bad as I thought. Did the second half. I know my arguments are weak as could not figure out how to back them up but at least shows I have thought about them. Sod my usual scores, I thought, just whack it in and hope to scrape a pass. So submitted it. In normal times I would redraft it to make it decent but my head (like everyone else's) is currently fooked by world events.
Later, we pop out briefly to pick up a printer I ordered last night so that the temp 'home office' for OU is complete. I don't expect many shops other than supermarkets and pharmacies to be open for much longer.
Partner and I have decided that when/if 'full lockdown' is initiated we will hole up at her house.
Considering whether to go to work next week.

With great comedy timing, I have come down with a relapse of my cold from two weeks again. (Streaming nose, sneezing, definitely a cold and not COID-19. I don't expect to be maintaining a resting peak flow of 425 L/Minute with COVID-19 and mu asthma. Hell, I don't expect to be doing anything except calling 999 and getting taken to casualty if I get it. Seasonal Flu nearly killed me a few years back, and I am calling the number a lot quicker this time. Before I get down to a sub-99L/minute peak flow).
I am entrenched in my flat, and have been since Tuesday morning. Unless forced to I don't expect to leave here until I am absolutely forced to, or they retract the current "social distance for 12 months" advice and my grand-boss insists I come back to the office. (Not that I can - the office is currently just plain closed, and we have been told to stay off campus by executive order). I've done a stock-take of my food situation, and I'm fairly well sorted out for a reasonable period without going anywhere.
I'm just going to treat this like some sort of extended duration space/undersea journey. Stretch out my gundam kit supply, stretch out the food supply, and ride this one out.

Last shop visit for a while. Got all we need in the flat so no need really. I can't help mixing as I have to go to work but otherwise the time has come to keep it to a minimum. Started opening boxed Transformers last night. Siege Brunt is really good. -Ralph I don't have boxed Transformers to open, but I do have a backlog of Gundam and Macross kits to build. I have some Speez Merinez that need to be painted as well, so that might keep me out of mischief for a bit. Karl

Today I panic-avoided all shops and went for a walk around my local nature reserve. Saw a pair of dog walkers, no-one else. I'd originally planned to be going for a walk in the country today, somewhere not near many people, but I've been hearing so much about so many other city folk heading off into the country that I decided that the sensible thing to do would be to give it a miss. Annoying, since we rarely have days this glorious (and on a weekend day, too!) but it seems like the sensible thing to do. And we're going to have to be hitting some shops up at some point - we still need to get lots of baby stuff. It's not that we're unpreprared, it's just that we had a schedule for when we were going to do certain things, to stop us from getting overwhelmed by trying to do everything at once. And then this has happened. We'll just have to try and go at times when it's less likely to be busy. Our local second-hand baby stuff store has at least announced their limiting customers and insisting people book a time slot in advance, so that'll help a lot. As it is when I've had to make essential runs to the shops I've been throwing all my clothes in the washing machine and showering as soon as I get in. And taking my bike so that I can't transmit anything via the car seats. This will become increasingly more difficult...

I think you need to get home Phil. I do, DESPARATELY. But I don't want to spend 90 mins in a car with Liz, a chronic Asthematic, if there's ANY chance I have the chaos bug. As much as I want to see her and go home, I'd rather she be well first. I am reasonably sure almost everything is psychosomatic or worry induced. The nose and throat is f***ing hay fever and is noticeably worse today in the sunshine with the windows open. I have felt better today in myself and thus generally physically better helped by the sun being out. Good to join in with the church in Swindon this morning with their online activities.

I also have done some stuff to improve my environment with an almost immediate impact on my neck: I got rid of the pillow last night, too thick for me, and slept flat. Ok I woke at 3:30 ish but.....
I've also elevated my laptop further by 3 DW Videos on each side so the top of the screen is in my eyeline - I'm using an external keyboard anyway and it was already on a box

I think you need to get home Phil. I trust the CMO would advise me if he spotted something in what I'm saying that merits professional attention? I suspect, when all this is over, a long conversation with my neurologist may be necessary.....,

The CMO is happy with your current condition, but will be monitoring you closely, including the possible use of probes.
It sounds like you've been keeping your distance from people during your stay in London. So hopefully you don't have the Chaos Bugger (it really does sound like hey fever) and won't pass it on to your family. The CMO therefore strongly advises you get back home asap. That is where you need to be should more isolation be required from the public. Yes Liz is asthmatic, but she is young and strong and has magical cake powers.

I weeded most of the patio at lunch time. Really need to weed and reseed the back part of the lawn. Hoping for good weather to do this this summer unlike last year. Also hopingnthebguybwe asked tondo our fence is still willing to come and do it. Falling apart and desperately needs replacing. He doesn't have to come near us in the house to do this and will hopefully appreciate the work.
Like Llama we need to rejig our baby stuff buying schedule. We have lots of stuff already and have just ordered a car seat online rather than in person as we'd hoped. Fingers crossed it is alright. Pram coming later next week. Still need baby monitor and a few odds and ends. My father is still scheduled to come on Easter ank holiday Monday to do some painting with me in one of the rooms upstairs but will see when the time comes. Joy is quite stressed at the thought of visitors currently.

No garden here to go out into. Something I do envy my sister in having. On the other hand I do have a back-room/study which collects all the heat and light of the sun after about 11am. It has made for a toasty warm place to ride out my cold and snuffly nose.
I understand your paranoia Phil. Since coming down with this cold on Friday evening, I have had a little bit of an anxiety spike about it. Some rationality tells me that given the main symptom is sneezing, a running nose, and an upper throat irritation it almost certainly is the cold that kept me of work a couple of weeks ago back for a second run. I will admit to having a bit of a stress about it on Friday night though. So I did the "control what you can", and put together the skeleton of a hospital bag - some clothes, my own PJs a book, some paper and a pen. Now I feel like if I did need to go into hospital, I am prepared. It also makes me feel more confident that I won't need to go in.
Taking what action one can is good for the state of mind at this time.

I know I've found it useful doing the prep work for ...... I want to call it Operation Exodus but that feels wrong.
Been scavenging in Mum's house for resources she won't or can't use to take back with me. I use a manual razor and as luck would have it had just bought a new pack of blades but sensing such a thing might be difficult to get when I found a whole pack of spare blades in Dad's drawer I half inched those and his old razor! There's a few bits of technology I've half inched too, like a signal booster which is useless to Mum because her aerial is bust,
She also has a big pile of dried staples in her larder that we stashed there a while ago that are coming home with us. Mum's unable to use the cooker, she relies on microwave meals, so she won't need them. Plus a couple of loo rolls and bars of so from the upstairs bathroom which she can' ta chess and is only used when me or my brother is here.
Saying goodbye to my brother today was hard. Won't see him again till we're all done.
But generally, a much better day today. Church this morning over the net helped I think.

The tightness in chest and cough have not got worse so probably is a seasonal type thing but it is very very hard to keep perspective and I am still unsure whether to go to work next week.

Mowin' the lawn, mowin' the lawn... (to the tune of Judas Priest's Breakin' The Law) That's how I also ended up spending my day. And ended spending much more of it than planned on this task, too, after discovering that a cat or fox had been doing an award-winning amount of shitting in it. (Whilst unwell, too, from the looks of things.)
