I was intrigued by the revelation last night that minstrels and M&Ms both had the slogan 'melt in you mouth, not in your hand'. I've been reading about M&Ms and have discovered the shocking truth of their origins. During the Spanish Civil war in the 30s, British soldiers were given Smarties in their rations because the sugar coating meant they could have chocolate that didn't melt in the hot climate. American troops noticed this and thus M&Ms were born! The good and honest British Smartie is the father of the American imposter!
NB, this will not stop me eating them.

The only downside to this is that Nestle, evil sods that they are, bought out Rowntree's a few years back, and thus Smarties are now Nestle products, which means I will not consume them. Which is annoying.
