Currently just under 8 with three and half weeks to go. Little wonder they want it out before this! We are looking like a planned c sec. Unless of course it decides to come before. In which case emergency c sec. Either way no waiting around. If things start moving before straight to hospital now, no waiting for Worf's instructions.

Well you can still always give any encouragement in the style of Mr. Worf. You've got your shiny metal sash in the hospital bag, yes..?
An oh blimey, that is certainly on the larger end of things. Hopefully it will decide there's not enough room in its current lodgings soon and start coming of its own accord...

Why would I hide the emblems of my people in the hospital bag and not be wearing them now? We have stuff for hospital bag in a couple of piles... It just needs to go into an actual bag now.

That's us booked in for a c-sec on morning of Friday 29th. Joy and Bump likely to be kept in for a couple of nights as they want to run some tests and monitor Bump for a couple of potential but rare complications.
Currently I can't go in and visit once the birth is over and Joy is sent up to the main maternity ward, but still two weeks to go and they've said there's a chance the covid rules might be relaxed by then.

It's possible that the rules could be relaxed, for sure, but equally likely not. That's the part I'm not looking forward to, really - having to wait in the car until Jo's ready to go to the labour suite, and then having to go home if she needs to stay. I mean I know she'll be fine, but I won't like it.
But good that you've got a date - and you may very well beat us to the hatching. Hope there are no complications.

That'll be the weird part, being at home while they are both in hospital still. And fielding all the calls and messages about how they are doing when you can't really say for certain. We are ring fencing the time from when we go in to when I go home. There will be a brief message to parents on success but otherwise the time will be ours especially if I can't visit. Plus we're not sure how drugged up Joy will be at that point

Oh absolutely. I'm likewise intending to notify people that we've gone in when I get called in, and then radio silence until it's all happened. Best way to do it - can't be worrying about other people at that time.

Absolutely, guys. This is about the three of you and no one else. Everyone else will understand, and if they don't- screw 'em!

I'm not sure my mother will understand. For example I thought we'd won the Lockdown no unnecessary trips discussion until she and Dad turned up at my door on my birthday. They both seemed to have thought they would be coming over on day one to meet Marmaduke as well if it wasn't for the Lockdown. No checking with us if that was ok or desirable.

Oh dear. That kind of thing is so annoying. I think you've just got to keep setting those boundaries. But it's very difficult.

We set them and she agrees to them. Then ignores them. My mother has few boundaries unless it suits her.

Fun times with them trying to get me a girlfriend before I met Joy. Anyone who was female and they met was clearly a match. And at the time we lived at opposite ends of the UK!

Good grief. Me and Mrs Shocks have had the odd... 'parental shinanigans'.
But NOTHING REMOTELY like this.

Urgh, yes, that's not ideal. We'd probably also have similar issues, if we weren't at the opposite end to the country from my parents. Thankfully my Dad can't drive long distances any more and my mum just can't drive, so I think we'll be safe for a while. That and the fact that we're not on speaking terms with them anyway at the moment - that makes it a lot easier to say that they can see the Scraplet when we're ready, and not before.
The distance is also a boon because you remember the VE Day street parties that we all saw in the news a couple of weeks ago? You may remember seeing that one of the worst ones was held in Cosham. Well my Mum was at that. It wasn't the one where everyone was doing the conga, but even so... yeah, I wanna know exactly where they've been in the last two weeks before they can even think about any contact with us.

I fear my mother will use Dominic Cummings hypocrisy as an excuse to come over now..
Six days to go.

Negative two days.
The Scraplet finished his budding sequence at 1951hrs on Saturday, May 23rd.
Due to a couple of concerns he was ultimately delivered by C-section, so he and the conjunx are now both still in the hospital whilst she recovers. There was some concern about his temperature and ability to maintain it, but ultimately that was probably down to the fact that the air-conditioning in the theatre and recover ward was set way too cold (we weren't the only people there with issues). So hopefully they can both come home soon, so that chewing can commence.

Congrats!! Good to see that babies still come with hats. The temperature thing is also connected with c-sec babies in general I think. One of the things they will be checking over with ours later this week too.

Congrats!! Good to see that babies still come with hats. Yep, came out with it on and everything. Darndest thing. They were also concerned it could be a sign of infection (in babies temperature drops, not raises if there's an infection, due to their not-yet-fully-functioning immune system), so many blood tests and a canular inserted in his foot so they could administer anti-biotics, poor bugger. The plus side was that although I was set to go after they were to be taken out of the recovery room, I was able to go with him when they sent him to the neonatal ward to be warmed up. That meant that Jo could be looked after properly (and even managed to rest a little), and I was able to spend the night with him. Also got to see him yesterday afternoon before he was taken up to the labour ward to be with her. Now hoping we'll hear soon that they can come home.

No more toys for you. -Ralph Right now there are Transformers I want to buy, but I’m just not feeling the urge to push the button. I’m sure that feeling will pass, but I’m enjoying the current acquisition right now. Of course, when we initially went into the hospital last Friday morning when Jo’s contractions first started I wasn’t at all worried that ER Prime was due to be delivered that day, and I wasn’t at all glad that we were sent home before it arrived. And I definitely didn’t open and play with it whilst contractions were still going on. Definitely not.
