Morning all,
Happy Monday!
A little slow out the blocks this morning. Yesterday was a good day, well up on Saturday. Hope today will be OK but the Sertaline has generally been producing good day/not so good day. I hope we can buck that trend and get me on the level as we go on: pray that happens. Also pray that the sweating side effect from either that or the remains of the Sinusitis goes away.
Hope you all OK - stay safe & well.

The source of our sudden heavy fly problem of the last week has now become clear: our downstairs neighbour has stopped putting her rubbish outside in the bins and is now dumping it on her balcony in the hot weather. Said rubbish will include nappies.
This is directly below where we have been opening the living room door for air. If it wasn't for Social Distancing I would pop down to have a Full And Frank Discussion. Need to keep our door and windows closed for now! It does need to be closed sometimes anyway so I don't breath in her smoke. Grrr.

Crappy couple of days for me.
General acheness. Ive been back and forth on if it was muscular or Im run down or have a bug.
Its been mostly around my upper back and legs, but I realised thats just because its hard to rest your back and Im using my legs everytime I stand. My upper body doesnt feel as bad until I start using my arms a bit and then its the same thing.
So run down or bug probably. Ugh!

In better news I finally had an experiment in silicone mould making. Its an expensive hobby and Ive been looking for cheaper option when I came across some videos on youtube of people using tubes of silicone sealant mixed with various household items.
The first attempt with White Spirits sort of worked, but also shrunk the mould (which is very useful in different circumstances). More recently I came across other videos with people mixing cornflour into the silicone turning it in to a dough. Not something that can be used to pour over an object to make a cast but perfect for making an impression of an object.
It works really well. Only takes about an hour to set and then usable moulds. This has cheered me up no end.

Had a mixed day today. Started out rather down, not helped by checking the news... I need to learn to stop doing that at the moment. It either makes me despair, or it makes me very, very angry...
Fortunately the intervention of some good friends, some gundam kit building, and a walk this afternoon have put my brain on more of an even keel. I mean, I still feel like the likelihood of seeing family or friends this year is receding further into the distance by the day. But I've managed to put that back at an emotional distance.
I've also got the top half of a gunpla assembled, complete with some stickers applied that I thought might actually make my head explode when I first looked at them! So it hasn't been a complete waste of a day. I've also had a very nice stir-fry this evening, a nice little treat for myself on a not great day.
Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day. (Back to work, but at least the commute isn't quite as far as it has been. 50 seconds along the corridor as opposed to 60 minutes to campus...)

I have felt much better since I stopped constantly checking the news. I've only checked it once for a few mins to read one article since last Wednesday.
GP call organised for tomorrow to ask for advice for anxiety. I don't want pills: just some advice. It may also help if I feel I can't go back to That Job when the recall happens.
Physio got back to me with answers to questions about New Pain. It is part of the usual problem, thankgoodness.

Yeah, I generally don't check the news much more often than once every day or three for a little while. But this morning I relapsed, and have been reminded of why I stopped in the first place. Lesson learned. Strangely enough I've been pondering it this evening and I've realised that it is not so much that the news itself has been making me anxious/depressed. It is more that the news tends to make me angry - whether it is because of idiocy in the reporting, or the idiocy they are reporting on. That anger then collapses, and into the resulting gap slides the anxiety. So in this case Yoda is in error. For me it isn't Fear leads to Anger, it is Anger leads to Fear... (Not yet developed the ability to strangle people from several miles away over the Tele, or shoot lightning from my fingers, as yet though - so I am clearly only clipping the edge of the Dark Side).
Makes sense to speak to the GP and see what they can suggest regarding the anxiety. Whilst I do have medication - because I have a biochemical issue lurking behind the cognitive one (a bit like a Sith Lord lurking behind his apprentice) - I think that the things that have most benefited me in recent years are some of the little things that came out of my discussions with my CPN about four years ago. All sorts of little tools that suit my particular anxiety issues, and help me to manage it better. (For example, unlike my colleagues I am still taking a break for coffee on a work day at the same time as I have done for the past three years. I make my sandwiches for lunch in the morning before I start work, and put them in my fridge in the same way as in the office fridge. Little things, but they help me keep a sense of normalcy most of the time which helps keep my head straight. I've come to realize that I need routine to help keep me comfortable - so I maintain it in adversity because it helps to center me.). Hopefully the GP will be able to suggest some resources to point you in the direction of some cognitive or behavioural tools that will work for you.
Good to hear that the New Pain is a part of the existing issue - in thesense that a moving target is annoying, but it is better news than it having called in reinforcements.

I know the thing that will remove 99% of the anxiety is to leave current job and move to better job but for all sorts of practical and financial reasons that will probably not be possible until lockdown eases and places hire again. I can't afford to resign with nothing to go to when furlough ends (which could literally be any day now). There will also obviously be less jobs going as well. So I need to get a handle on how to deal with the work related anxiety so my health is not impaired further when the recall comes.
The job is also only contracted until December anyway. In the worst case scenario of being there until then I don't want to be a wreck when I finish, which would impair my ability to find more suitable employment.
The Current Situation is contributing to anxiety but I'm 99% more anxious about going back to That Job.

I've been watching today in the vague hope something will help the random decisions about schools make sense. Nope. No luck there. Apparently primary schools have classrooms large enough to seat 15 pupils 2 metres apart. My room is the second largest in the school and I reckon I can get ten in at a push, but even then we're going to need some choreography to get in and out and I'll have to stand in the doorway to teach. All primary pupils back in by July? In which case social distancing will have to be relaxed completely by then or it simply won't work. I reckon we can do about a hundred kids 2m apart if we use every room in the school, but there are more than twice that on roll and we couldn't manage that many in shifts for breaks and lunch anyway.
The reality is that kids don't get social distancing anyway. Apart from when they're sat in a specific seat there's no hope of keeping them apart unless you constantly remind them. They might just as well abandon the idea in schools now and save us the bother. Teachers are also being told not to wear any kind of protection, so if they're determined we need to reopen then just let us get on with it properly. Fannying about with ill thought out half measures is just going to make it worse.
Still, the day we closed I said we'd reopen June 1st. No one believed me.

I can almost get my head around the easing lockdown idea. Given the government we have.
And I realise that they only want the schools open so parents dont have an excuse not to work, but even then it seems completely mad. They are going to blame people for not being alert and causing a spike, but are they planning on blaming 4 year olds?

Morning!
Tuesday. Monday..... didn't go well. Head started OK, but there were lots of little aches, pains and other things bothering me with the body. Some technical issues in the morning brought me down a bit and a repeat in the afternoon together with some other stuff finished me off. Late afternoon wasn't good and though it improved and I've had a decent night's sleep I still don't feel great today.
Please pray the head recovers and the body does OK today and for our continued safety & protection.

Rough start to the day with my online food shop replacing the stuff I can eat with stuff I can't and too late to cancel. My own fault, I should be more diligent on the 'no substitutions' button, but it's still annoying to waste food. Going to see if I can't food bank it somehow.
Then discovered my new PC has a CD player that doesn't work. So now I need to find a small program on disc to see if it'll read that...

Call from GP surgery was helpful. Some tips been given which is nothing I didn't already know but hadn't thought to do. Really obvious and easy stuff that just had not come to mind at all. Would rather try them with Jen's help than pills* if they can possibly be avoided. It was agreed the anxiety is situational rather than general and I can come back to them if I feel I really can't go back to That Job when the recall comes.
-Ralph
*I am very aware that pills do a lot of good for people and I have seen this personally and professionally. I also know from past experience that they aren't what I personally find most helpful.
