Charged for an Amazon order that shipped a week ago and never turned up. Amazon Customer service is hard to navigate. Excitement. Now for weekly shop, which will be a challenge as walking and holding things abilities remain impaired. -Ralph Easiest thing to do is go direct to your Order page, select the item there and then there should be an option for returns/replacements/failed arrivals etc. I've had to use this a few times. The actual customer help pages are useless. Ah, cheers. Sorted it now. It's probably the local locker being full up. Have re-ordered items via Book Depository, which will come here via Royal Mail and I save 13p! -Ralph

Second slightly scary thing done today: Liz is currently sitting in her sister's garden (more than 2m away from her!)

Morning All!
Thursday: I need a new joke for Thursdays.
Wednesday good: made it out the back door, coped with Liz going out to sit in the sister's garden with her. And volunteered to do something online on Saturday which is a tad scary.....
Ran out of go mid homegroup meeting last night - sorry all - which underlines a bit why I was doing so little evening going out pre lockdown. Still feel quite tired and physically run down this morning.
Today: more shopping due, there's a joy, and a parcel. So pray I cope with those and have the energy for the day and we stay protected here.
All being well I'll try the garden again later.
Hope you're all OK stay safe & well.

Morning all,
It's Friday but it isn't 5 to five quite yet.....
Yesterday was a bit flat, always likely to be after Wednesday. Liz has got a Zoom call planned for this morning, J has one tonight and I have three prayer meetings I'd like to do so the interweb will get a good thrashing today especially as some of the above are at the same time!
Pray we get through the day OK and stay protected. Pray also for the sinuses which have felt a bit stubborn the last few days - nothing painful, just aware they're there and not quite right.
Hope you all OK - stay safe and well.

Welp, turned out to be a strange week. Got told on wednesday that my department is restructuring. Our first line support is being outsourced (terrible idea for our customer base but cost-savingsssss), the remaining 15 people have to reapply for a total of 9 positions, with redundancy for the remainder.

Large companies do not care about employees. It is what it is, I'm lucky that I have money in the bank to cover it for a while, some of my colleagues, not so much.

It is true. I'm lucky that my employer (very large org) remains profitable during all this thanks to its business model, and not being publicly owned, so there have been no talks of redundancies or anything yet.
If anything were to change though I would expect no particular mercy from them, it has been my bitter experience that big orgs neither earn nor reward loyalty. Treated as though they were individuals, corporations are essentially sociopathic.

Oh, that's been my experience. I am just waiting to see when the axe falls. No way they'll keep people on past July if the retention scheme changes as discussed so the Government contribution drops to 60% and employers need to pay or they're kicked out the scheme.
I'm just waiting to see when the boot comes. I can't apply for anything else right now: not much out there, I have some physical issues causing a lot of pain and mobility issues at present and my skills are for the type of work currently impossible with social distancing.
For reasons I will not discuss in public, a change in employer is required (and the contract expires in December anyway) but I can see no route forward in the Current Circumstances. It is a constant worry and my mental health is not doing great as a result. If not for my partner's support I would be in a very very bad way.

Very stressed after today's announcement from the chancellor. Almost certainly will end up on the sick or unemployed now. I can't cope with that.

Morning All!
This Is Saturday, Wear A Smile!
Friday went well, with the minor caveat that I only managed to steam myself once. We'll be paying for that later....
Today: regular TMUK Zoom meet at 6pm. But before that I've agreed to host a half hour session for Good News For Swindon's 24 hours of prayer to close the Thy Kingdom Come prayer week. Doing something like that is a tiny bit out of my comfort zone so pray it goes OK.
Pray also for our continued health & protection.
Have a good day and stay safe & well.

Brief trip to Ashton town centre to the post office. Nightmare. No one social distancing anymore and loads of groups of more than 2 already.

Spotted that while shopping. Since the easing announcement a few weeks back many people have just gone back to normal. Bizarrely in supermarkets it's the OAPs who are most to blame round here. Every time I turned round in Sainsbury's on Thursday there were old people trying to push past me. Seems if you wear a face mask now you're immune to social distancing and catching anything. Unless the trend reverses and a stricter lockdown is reintroduced things will just crumble back toward normal now. The only difference is that shops will still be capping the numbers of people inside.

There are already signs in the data that the easing of lockdown a few weeks back is rising R and the death rate further again. The response of our illustrious government however is complete denial and to ease things back even more. It is madness.

Second day in a row where I have managed a walk without being halted by chest pain. Hay fever has been bad since Thursday. Head aches persist. Fun times.
I have got pretty good at shooting down flies with Raid though.

Ugh, here too for this past week. Eyes red, nose streaming, voice a deep bass rumble that amuses my daughter at least. It's lovely that Berlin is a city of trees, but it has its downsides

Morning All!
Sunday - Praise the Lord!
Also LAST day of May, where did that go?
SHATTERED. May have overdone it slightly yesterday, especially yesterday evening. Sinuses playing up too. Need a quiet day with little stress.
Pray I get through today OK, and we stay protected.
Hope you're all safe and well.

Back to an approximation of normal routine tomorrow. The organisation that's gone into getting one year back into school safely is quite ridiculous but we'll give it a go. Not looking forward to the alarm. Going to get so tired of barking 'two metres!' all day.

Having gone through in fine detail what we can and can't do, it's pretty clear we could do exactly the same using Zoom instead and not have the issue of managing physical proximity. This is all about the government trying to push the country back into normality; we've just ended up as the guinea pigs to see if kids being in school affects the transmission rate.

I doubt they're concerned about that or anything other than being seen to be doing something so no-one. Looks too closely at their failures.
