Slightly frustratingly for an event publicised with an Earthforce picture there was surprisingly little Earthforce product officially revealed save for Alternate Universe Op which we already knew everything about!

To be fair, that's not hasbro's fault at all. They didn't want their stuff to be stolen and leaked beforehand.

The point I was trying to make was less about the star reveal escaping and more related to how little Earthforce stuff was shown in an event advertised with Earthforce imagery!

I've set a thread up here for the online reveal Events as I suspect they'll be more.

I'm disturbed by Phil's subliminal desire for an Earthforce line :)
Mind you, that might turn out to be what RED is.

Having watched the ToyFair streams earlier this year, it might also be just as well to wait for the news to hit the social medias - and it'll save a chunk of your life. But if you've got the time to kill... And with only six reveals I guess this definitely means that Movie '86 and WFC3 reveals are not coming until SDCC. Well I was right about the latter. But wrong about the former, which was good. Nice and tight presentation actually, only a very small amount of filler. Not nearly as much soul-crushing, advertising-talking, "just get on with it!" stuff as there was in the live shows. Not enough time to settle in with a drink, but for what it was I'm glad I didn't.

The Fan Friday stuff has been a bit random but I would imagine there will still be a bit of a thing around the SDCC weekend on the 24th. They may keep the second Netflix wave for when that goes live on July 30th.

Surely it would be wise for Hasbro to at least let the Netflix show start before pumping out a second wave?

No I mean reveal it, not release it. We'll see stuff ala SDCC end of next month that won't be immediately on sale. Mind you, we also know wave 2 has figures in whose main line use hasn't been seen yet, so w*nc 2 may be a way off. Can't be *that* far though if the listings are already in the Walmart system.

I think the nub is that unlike usual, we only got a glimpse of what is in store this year exclusive-wise, which has provoked much more thought and prediction about what's coming next and how it will all fit together based on the rumours and leaks we've seen. We had a mini-SDCC on Friday, and things like that always cause excitement. There is also the fact that we had new things we haven't had before in the accessories pack and the RED line; it wasn't just, 'here's a few repainted Deluxes'.

I think it's quite complicated. For a start there were a few surprises in there and a lot of what we expected to see, including some boxed items which we really expected announced, weren't.
The Centurion drone had been leaked, but the weapons pack was a complete surprise. That then leads t o debate about the contents.
Tigertrack was another surprise, and a complete surprise. Lambo repaint, previously just an exclusive/MP, plus it's the whole "what Sideswipe and Sunstreaker should have been" thing.
Rotorstorm we knew was coming, and we guessed what from, but this was our first look and the head has provoked some debate.....
Alternate Universe (Dead) Optimus Prime is possibly the most leaked toy ever. It's very Marmite though and the Pro people were keen to secure.
RED Toys are a new line. Two of the REDs had been revealed in the week and the third should have been revealed here..... or would have been if a certain UK retailer hadn't had a little slip up that morning! Non TFing TFs push an Action Master nostalgia button for some people and the scale, 6 inch, fits in with Hasbro's Black Series Star Wars, Marvel Legends and GI Joe Classified. Hasbro is rather throwing all it's eggs in one basket here.
So LOTS to talk about...

I need a button to press somewhere that will make me excited about Tigertrack. I should be, I love the mould and I love the idea, but I can't feel it. I reckon I would be much more thrilled by Deep Cover or Cordon. Rotorstorm I would be excited by if we had some indication that other Turbomasters will get done.
This has helped me to realise something - The Select line is very much Hasbro trying to do what Fun Pub used to do with their releases - wacky recolours based off existing moulds - but the thing about the Botcon bits and TFCC figures was that they mostly came as pairs, sets or groups. They were linked by a theme, and that made them mini collections in themselves and therefore more appealing to me. They may not be their original groups, but they went together. Selects doesn't have that. It's just a bunch of random repaints so unless the figure is one missing from an existing group, like Lancer or the Powerdashers, the appeal to me is minimal. If one of the multiple Primes we'd had recently had been a Machine Wars one so we got Thunderclash in Selects, I'd jump on Rotorstorm straight away, but as it is, it's just an odd recolour of a mould I already have. One Turbomaster that doesn't resemble the original very well is a bit meh.

Some fun stuff in Selects but yes the line lacks any identity of its own overall.

I think more of it boils down to this year being an oddity beyond anyone's abilities to predict or control. It's almost july. We've had one wave, and we're still not sure when the next one will drop.
There have been no events to release information through. So far the little bit Hasbro has released has been a few stock photos released on the downlow. Hasbro has been doing these "fan fridays" for quite some time now, and until now have never done one for TF.
Meanwhile in a normal year there would have been several publicity events by now (toyfair, botcon which we've still not collectively compensated for it's absence, an occasional convention, and would be gearing up for SDCC). We would know what's in wave four by now, and we'd have an inkling of a few more things. We would be well on wave two, with wave three now starting to trickle out.
We are in a massive drought. But in terms of new toys, and in terms of new information. Until this weekend, our information base was stuck in what we would know by toyfair.
I think everyone's excitement is due to that we had a short summer shower, when we've not had any measurable rain at all, in six months.

Considering Current Events, I'm actually amazed at how many toys have still been coming out. I certainly haven't felt any shortage of new things to choose to buy from.
I enjoyed the TF Fan Friday thing. It was short and to the point and the Hasbro guy (Lenny) was very enthusiastic: much better than the robotic PR talk of Warden of the last few years!

I reckon I would be much more thrilled by Deep Cover or Cordon. Might have found the button. RFC pointed out that we will obviously get Select Spinout from the Sunstreaker mould, at which point Tigertrack suddenly found a purpose in my head.

Did Ralph not say this is Netflix wave 2? Where does it say that in the blurb? This just looks like SDCC have done a deal with Walmart to channel all the con exclusives through them to shift the stock.

They did not announce what they will be announcing. So no one has any genuine clue what will be announced. RED and Netflix wave 2 are just best guesses.
Not all sdcc exclusives are going through walmart, either. Neca is channelling theirs through Target and their own site.
