They also don't help themselves by showing a screen cap in the same magazine with him in all his not red pinkness. Yup. It just compounds me for this line looks hee-haw like a TFTM line. -Ralph

Blurr looks like a french nobleman in a too short bob cut wig, who's about to be beheaded in the revolution.

That Jazz is tiny. Hopefully he'll feel worth it in hand... I think the last two Jazz toys have just been unusually tall. He'll scale with the rest of WFC fine, I hope.

I think Jazz will scale just fine. I am forced to use the soiled PotP Jazz in my '84ers, and he's too big for the others. SS Jazz will be spot on. He looks superb! Can't wait.

Ive still never opened TR Kup and seeing SS Kup (even with that face) I don't think I'll bother. This is now the third Kup in generations, oh no, four, I forgot about Botcon Kup having a new head, and they'vbe all been rubbish.
Blurs a harder choice. SS has a better car mode and, I guess, a more screen accurate robot mode, but TR looks a bit better.

I found everything except Hotrod and Grimlock (plus Cyclonus but no Primal) this morning.
Their heads aren't as weird in hand as in photos. Even Blurr's. Not to say they're not weird, but they aren't as distracting as you'd think.
Blurr, Kup, and Scourge I like significantly better than the TR versions. None of them are as straight forward as you'd think. There is some really clever engineering going on. A minor note, Kup's truck mode has an access hatch in the back of the cab. Not important, I just really like that detail, and is the sort of thing I live for when it comes to fantasy vehicles like this one.
Jazz is a great figure, too. Love the transformation. Very clever, also. You have to rotate his stomach to his back as a step in his transformation, or else his arms will have nowhere to go. And I'd have never figured that out without the instructions. His feet sticking out in vehicle isn't nearly as distracting in person. You wouldn't even really notice it if they weren't painted silver (for robot accuracy).
Now I really like him. He's a good figure. But he's a sidestep from RtS Jazz. If you have that one and don't feel that it's out of place in your collection, then there's not really much point in buying this one. If you don't have that one, absolutely go for this one and don't feel like you're missing out.
As for me, I think this one will go with my 89/90 Pretender/Actionmaster group, along side Classics Grimlock.

So I got Hotrod in.
I cannot stress how fiddly he is. I like the car mode okay, even if it's not terribly stable. I really do not like the transformation. It's overly complex solely for the sake of completely. Trying to turn the shoulders around, they have almost no room to do so. Nearly trying to occupy negative space. I see what they were trying to do, but I dunno. But it's the legs I hate! There's no reason for his legs to be like this! There's no reason for his legs to be this horrible! We've had Hotrods far less complex that achieve the exact same effect.
Including the two Masterpieces, you will not find a more cartoon accurate Hotrod. But there are much better Hotrod toys. I make it sound like I hate it, but I don't# It's worlds better than the first MP Hotrod, and PotP Hotrod core (would be the worst one if it didn't have a super mode). But I just think it could have done the exact same thing without being so complex. I think I prefer TR Hotrod. This one will look massively out of place along side less cartoony Classics scaled, like Netflix Bumblebee, or Siege or "T30" Springer.

Not from Hasbro but there's some solid info out there including Gnaw: Hasbro product code # F0786, UPC # 630509991075 There's some other woolier rumours too but wal*mart pages, UPCs and product codes is pretty reliable evidence

JAZZ and GRIMLOCKJazz is superb. Perfect (apart from he's missing his shoulder launcher). A mini Masterpiece. Over the moon. I think Urzu is right; when you consider that a clear SS86 figure like Cyclonus got punted into Kingdom (and Galvatron it seems), there can't be much more for SS86 than a second wave. However the flip side of that is the current mingling going on; there's nothing to say other Dinobots won't show up in the next Generations line. I just recall that last rumour that said SS86 Swoop but didn't mention Slag, who we've seen a computer listing for. Swoop and Slag were the first two out of the gate with Grimlock in Pottop. I think we'll get those three, but Sludge and Snarl is questionable. You could see them as leaders in the next Generations line, but even then you've got to consider the difference in the figures - Grim is huge for a Generations leader. He seems to exist because the budget on SS allows for much more variety in size, it's been like that from the start.

Blaster is interesting because he's a definite hole in the collection currently. But do him and we'd need at least some of his tapes too - which to go toe to toe with Rumble and Frenzy wouldn't fit with the current release types.

Maybe they bump Blaster up a price point like Hot Rod and give him a couple of tapes packed in? A couple of Micromaster size tapes. Rumble, Frenzy, Ravage, Ratbat and Laserbeak all came out in Siege, so they're already in the wild, if not as to scale as SS likes, but they're out there. So you could give Blaster his tapes, or set aside a Deluxe release and do a four pack of them.

One of the increasingly few TR I don't own. Soundwave is good though, so I am in broad agreement there!
But for a line as scale focused as SS, a new Blaster would be needed. And seeing as Scourge, Hot Rod, Kup and Blurr are all being revisited despite being in TR, I don't think it's unreasonable to suspect Blaster and Perceptor may be as well.

You're all falling into The Doctor's 'scale doesn't matter if it's a good toy' trap!
I keep coming back to SS86 being 'the toys that would stand well in front of Unicron to make a decent movie poster type assembly'. I still think, like the way SW Vintage had a small run of figures and extras to support Jabba's barge, that this line is purely about putting figures with a slightly different aesthetic in a bunch to go with Unicron. I don't think it'll amount to much more than that. Aside from Junkion & Sweep repaints, the only other figures you can bank on with this are Wreck-Gar, Rodimus and Gnaw because they were there in the original line.
