I don't think I'd miss Snarl to he honest. Nothing against him, but I can never decide wether Sludge, Slag or Swoop is my favourite Dinobot character - I like them all for their own things. Grimlock is the leader/main character of the bunch - and Snarl is just sort of there... I wonder if that's why he was left behind at the shuttle launch?

Have any Dinobots except Grimlock been confirmed? Not by Hasbro but a listing for Slag & Danial exists in the wal*mart computers

It's a long road... Getting from here to there. It's a long road... The waiting just ain't fair. I will lay awake at night. Shake fists at the sky. Blood staines on the keyboard, Internet search overdrive.
I lack faith, in my heart! Knowing where this Road will take me! I lack strength, to believe, They will give us all of them.
I know there, will be pain. But I know that you'll walk with me! We must pray to stars...
'Cos I lack faith (I lack, I lack) I lack faith...
Faith in my heart...

Ah, that's the way I work too. I've always kept my accounts in a spreadsheet so I know exactly what's left over at the end of the month for fun stuff.

A fresh wave of Collector's Fatigue has struck me today! Caused by 'The Huffer Situation'.
However, although Sunstreaker and Trailbreaker have to remain unopened for a few days, and I am missing my preferred Prowl and Jazz-
I NOW HAVE ALL THE '84 AUTOBOTS.
This makes me happy.

It occurs to me that I am reaching the Shockprowl Point. With the release of Huffer in a few months, my '84 update collection will be pretty complete. I don't see myself buying another Prime, or Jazz. All that is left is odds and ends, but the chances of Hasbro updating the Targetmasters, Triggerbots or their ilk seems slim.
Have I nearly finished as a collector?

Today it feels impossible to keep up with *everything*, as long as you are happy that is all that matters. The problem though with getting a modern collection of classic figures is that Hasbro love to create incrementally better versions

I think if you're going for that original look (Marvel/Sunbow) a lot of Earthrise is going to be hard to top. I suspect if they made a hard swing into the exact original toys but with articulation then that could possibly swing me. I'm just looking at my collection and thinking that after how good these are, I'm just not going to be interested in a design philosophy like the old Generations. Like say, Turbo Tracks. It's so off compared to what we're getting now that my nostalgia just isn't being set off by it, so I'm not interested anymore.
You'd have to go for a complete design shift, which a lot of new characters. Like Earthrise quality, but screen accurate Cyberverse or Animated. And then you'd need damn good fiction to interest me.
So WfC quality toys, with Cyberverse quality fiction. Not asking much!

There is more fatigue and anguish to go, Urzu my friend, as we tread the unthanking slabs of the Dinobot Road...
But like you I feel my collection is so very nearly complete. Maybe you have realised as I have that this peace is obtainable because Collector Fatigue has provided me with a sight beyond sight. A sight that enables me to see a line I can live happily with and aspire too, without going fucking crazy.
With fatigue of heart comes clarity of Collecting.
I have nearly reached Clarity Line. Where hope and sanity meet, and great plays are had.
Yes there are niggles, tweekettes, and Dinobot chasms to navigate- but WFC has given me the collection I've always dreamed of after all these years, and I'm very grateful. Especially as a lot of it so ridiculously difficult to aquire.
I'm collect-tired, but happy.
Just those niggles. Nnnniggle at ya, they do.

I've definitely been feeling now is a time to ease back on Generations. The desire to own everything has diminished a lot in recent years to the point now that I know buying the Beast Wars figures would just be underwhelming compared to buying more originals instead. I'm pleased that I've got this far and not caved, and not felt the need to cave. I like getting the odd extra when I think they have flare, like the G2 selects stuff and the purple Prime and Ratchet set, but I'm getting much more selective. I think you're right, the ER figures are so good they don't really feel like they need upgrading. It'll be really interesting to see where Hasbro go after WfC. People moan about the constant recycling of G1 characters, but it hasn't really truly happened until WfC. They've been blitzed now and they're fine. I don't think I need many of those figures in other releases.
However that doesn't mean I'm done, no way. I've gained ten times as much pleasure from buying RiD 2001 toys this year as I have Generations. The past is where it's at. Aside from plugging away at the missing 85/86 toys I have several targets that bring great pleasure when I can chip away at them. Being done with Generations (and that will never truly happen) just means money to go elsewhere.

Yeah, I can see that. Past toys don't really have that hold on me, though. I can appreciate them for what they were, but as I don't hold any particular attachment or nostalgia for them, I'm happy to let them pass by. I don't really know what my focus will be from here, if any. Just filling in gaps and picking up oddities as and when they happen, I guess.

Have I nearly finished as a collector? It depends on how you define 'collector'. Is a collector someone who has collected stuff with no requirement to acquire additional goods? Or is a collector someone who continually acquires stuff? There is also the question of defining the difference between being a collector and collecting. -Ralph
