Not the laminated book of dreams!
That's an arse actually; it's much easier to find stuff in the print version when you're in the shop. I suppose that means no in shop catalogue either.

I still used the catalogue as the in-store terminals are useless.

That's what worries me. The search on the website is useless.

The Argos website and in store devices are dreadful. Don't often shop there any more but can't see myself bothering at all now.
Never know. Maybe the money they must've been ploughing into the catalogue might be redeployed to improving their digital services.

Ahhh, the hours I spent looking at catalogues...

It was a window into another world!
I have no nostalgia for Argos itself though. My first job was in an Argos and was treated like shit. I've never forgotten...25 years later!

I applied at Argos but didn't even get an interview. Maybe dodged a bullet then...
Plenty of nostalgia for the store though. Used to love watching the sloping conveyor belt at the Nottingham branch, eagerly awaiting our order.

I do remember the mission to find Transformers, probably Christmas 84, and my parents trying to discover what was in stock in different Argos shops. I think I ended up with Sideswipe that way.

I worked at Argos for one Christmas. It was not an amazing job but worked with some nice people.

I was fired. The store policy was that all employees were patted down when leaving at the end of the day or at lunchtime so they weren't stealing stuff. The (male) deputy manager did this. His hands tended to go where they shouldn't. I complained about this to the (female) manager and was promptly fired.
I was 17 at the time and not very worldly-wise in certain things. An older me wishes I had shopped the guy to the Police.
