Any chance that Haslab might do unlikely reissue sets or is that only for new products?

Well that was certainly a ten second rollercoaster of emotions on that part of the presentation. Got all excited when they showed off the G1 toys, and then... oh, it's just the Legends version of the figures. Still, it was good of them to acknowledge directly that that was exactly what they were, and they are a nice touch. Just not what I was hoping for in that brief few seconds. Might nevertheless be tempted by a Highbrow when they appear, despite having the Titans Return version - he was always the one I wanted as a kid, so getting one in a G1-esque box might scratch a decades old itch...

At this stage it seems to be for new prestige items.
It's the kind of thing you could roll out under the selects banner though.

I'm not sure the Japanese Dinobot story stands up: they got the Chinese reissues as mail aways, they got new BW Dinosaurs in Neo, they got MP Grimlock early in the MP range, they got a second go at Volcanicus.... None of this has any baring the popularity of the Dino bots as a group, in regards if takara feels them worth enough to recreate them. · Dino bots aren't dino saurs. They're a specific subgroup of transformers that came 12/13 years earlier than the BW toys. Megatron/Dinobot/Guildart have as much correlation to the Dinobots as Tarantulas and Waspinator do to the Insecticons. Claiming the Insecticons as a group were/were not popular because BW used insect alt modes doesn't float. And dino saurs have always been popular in japan. · MP Grimlock was when Hasbro was still hands on with the MPs. It was largely Hasbro who wanted it with Takara being resistant. · I'm unsure of what the chinese mailaway argument is meant to prove/disprove? · Volcanicus reissue doesn't prove/disprove anything either. They're preexisting molds. Hasbro released a Liokaiser combiner in CW- that doesn't mean it's a popular group in western markets. The dinobots do exist, regardless of their popularity. They're going to get the occasional homage. And when they do, those will get released in japan. That isn't proof that they as a group were popular in the japanese market all along.

They accidentally photoshopped a chunk out of Hardhead's barrel.

It seems to be a theory put about over the years with little basis that's accepted as fact. The moulds being toast I can, sadly, believe. But they were produced in multiple locations over the years - there's definitely a Chinese set - so it's not beyond the realms of possibility that a currently missing set may show up Aaron Archer talked about the G1 moulds when he was at TFN. They have a lot of them, but they're old and the tooling doesn't work with the machinery in their more modern factories. Would cost money to make them useable. Need Walmart to put up some cash and make it happen.

"The tools are a flopy disk in a CD Rom world" is not the official answer I anticipated today.

The only thing that's selling me is the Takara head on Hardhead, but it is not enough to make me drop again.

I nabbed them straight away. Headmasters (yeah I mean The Rebirth my mind went blank) and Return of Optimus Prime was probably my most consumed Transformers media for many years these are how I see these characters, except maybe Brainstorm now, thanks to MTMTE.
Also, the packaging. Oh yes! The packaging must be mine.
Obviously having ordered these Asda will decide to stock them.

Trying to decide if I want these. I have two sets of the TR Headmasters already. I want them, but can't afford them until I get another job. So if they are still available in 2021 I will get them. If not, no harm done. I've lost interest in products that are only available for a very short time. Not fussed about the boxes. Retro packaging only hits the spot for me if the toy inside is a reissue. -Ralph

I have just been informed that I have to resist, since I already have these toys. There's some wisdom in that. But it's stupid wisdom.

I love the original packaging style I really do but I have TR and LG of three of these four. What would be the point?

The packaging does look nice - but with the subtle differences they do also remind me of weird knock-offs.

Just realised these have the wrong logo on them. They shouldn't just be more than meets the eye - they are much more!

We give Hasbro enough grief over their repack choices but I think they got it right here as Hardhead's alternate head is the one that is the most different and appears regularly in western fiction. So if one of them gets packed again it makes sense it's him
