I see. So we're defining '84 as cartoon season one as opposed to the toys that were actually on sale that year.
I tend to do that too.

I see. So we're defining '84 as cartoon season one as opposed to the toys that were actually on sale that year. I tend to do that too. What was on sale means nothing to me 'cos I never saw it all. The 'teams' presented in the cartoon AND catalogues AND comic hold powerful sway.

My mental cut-off point for early toys is Target 2006. I read that some time before I saw the movie (or even knew about it) so it's where the new, different-looking toys started showing up in fiction for me.
The only exception is that I'm absolutely sure I saw Springer and Sandstorm before I was aware of Hot Rod et al, so they fall into the early toys camp in my memory, however wrong that is.

Then change the lyrics to your song. Well in a perfect world I'd have a modern update of '84 and '85, but I have not the time, money, space, or sanity to attempt that. '84 is special though. '85 does continue the magic, but '84 is The Nexus.

What in the name of Bonaparte's Balls is this fellow doing now?
Speaking of which, did you see Blackadder II was on BBC1 last night? Chains. They only went and showed it stretched to 16:9. I actually shouted at the telly.
