Why does it seem like Hasbro hates Ratchet?
Seriously, he is always the hardest one to get. They make you jump through hoops and/or shell out serious money if you want him.
Of all the 84/85 toys, he took the longest to get serious updates. And Hasbro only started using him again for non-g1 continuities because of the movie.
First update: Botcon 2005. Available only at the show (unlike Ironhide).
Second update: Universe 2.
Full retail release. But demand artificially inflated because Ratchet is one of the most popular autobots, and the last one is largely unavailable. So Ratchet this ratchet was harder to get than most from this line.
Movie Ratchets are plentiful.
Animated Ratchet got three toys.
-A retail release, which was fairly easy to get.
-A store exclusive repaint, which was harder.
-A TRU exclusive new mold which was a nightmare to get.
But being a popular character and part of the main cast, he's sought after.
TFP Ratchets were easy to come by.
NuRid Ratchet was technically a full retail release. But he was shortpacked to one per case, and available in one wave only, that did not even reach saturation. It's considered a G1 stand in, unlike the other three ratchets, which only serves to make it harder to get.
Third update: Generations Combiner Wars
Hasbro didn't even bother with releasing this one.
FP took it and locked it away as a BS Custom Class "exclusive." (The concept of the custom class existing is not BS. The concept of Custom Class exclusives is the biggest bullshit FP ever conned us with). It's an act of god to get one of these.
The alternative is buying the Takara version which is locked in a gift set with four other toys you probably already had.
Fourth update: Generations "WfC" Siege.
A Walgreens exclusive that you had to sell your soul for the luck you need to find.
Fifth update: Generations "WfC" Galactic Odyssey
An Amazon exclusive that unsurprisingly sold out very quickly. And many people report amazon canceling their orders.
Genertions "SG" Ratchet:
Also an exclusive. But as it's been available for a few months without selling out, it seems to be the easiest exclusive of all.
This one might actually be the easiest Ratchet to get, that isn't movie or Prime.
So like... WTF Hasbro? Why do you hate Ratchet?
