Now that Dad's gone back home I've begun hitting the coffee shops for takeaways again, which I was abstaining from in the run-up to his visit. So iced lattes, pain au chocolat, bacon rolls, hot apple & cinnamon to drink, etc. Eating and drinking them on a park bench makes them even tastier.

Yeah, Struggling a bit today. Routine is a bit out, but that's minor compared to what the aches and pains are doing, both CMT from the weathr and Sinuses in face & teeth. I feel tired, can't really think straight and can feel all of the above trying to pull my head down mentally. Prayer appreciated. You got it, and I hope Ralph & Jen's boiler holds out until servicing. After a week and a half at home I walked into the office for a few hours this morning, just for a change of scenery. Building at less than 2% of full occupancy according to the digital counter. (Current limit is 20%.) Felt like the Enterprise-D in the episode 'Starship Mine' with most of the crew disembarked. I kept looking around for imposter technicians aiming to steal trilithium resin from the warp core. Grabbed some fish and chips for lunch on the way home. Probably go back in a bit tomorrow and then take a break until Monday. At any rate, I'm looking forward to seeing the new year in with my laptop stowed in my office locker rather than in the house. It's Wednesday
Yesterday: Struggled quite a bit. Routine was a bit out, but that was minor compared to what the aches and pains are doing, both CMT, from the weather, and Sinuses, in face & teeth. I felt tired, couldn't really think straight and can felt all of the above trying to pull my head down mentally. So yeah, a big struggle.
Today: Not a clue
Pray Day goes OK, Sinuses & CMT cope OK. Pray the teeth behave and it is just the sinuses. Pray my head stays clear enough to function. Pray we stay protected from the virus.
Have a good day, stay safe & well.

Annual dental checkup. Had all the reminder emails and texts, filled in all the necessary forms online, turned up on time. Not expected. Phantom appointment, something wrong with the booking. 45 minutes later still waiting to be fitted in.

Probably go back in a bit tomorrow and then take a break until Monday. Intended to just go in for a couple of hours in the morning, but unlike yesterday when I pretty much had the entire wing of one floor to myself, one of my mates turned up and we spent most of the day putting the world to rights - socially distanced, of course. (Like me, my mate lives alone and comes into the office during lockdown for mental well-being reasons, as working from home wasn't working out for him. Unlike me, he wasn't living alone at the start of the year, but lockdown resulted in the breakup of his family, which tragically includes a young child who he now only sees occasionally.) Anyway, great to catch up in a way that just isn't possible on a computer screen. On a lighter note, going back to the feeling of walking the decks of a deserted starship, the heating and ventilation in the office are fully operational, but the lights switch off when there are no people around, which results in the disconcerting experience of being in a well-lit lift whose doors open onto a floor in pitch darkness. You wonder where the lift has taken you until you step out and the lights come on. Martin

Well I've just wrapped up work for the year and won't be back til 11 January. I've not actually been in the office since March, barring one brief trip in to reset a password when the VPN wouldn't play ball.
Still no idea when I can expect to be asked to go back in.

Still no idea when I can expect to be asked to go back in. Do you think you will be asked to go back to how things were before, post-vaccine, or do you think your employers will encourage as many people as possible to keep on working from home, now they know you can, to save the costs of running such big offices? Morning All!
It's Thursday - New Year's Eve
Yesterday: A much better day for me. Sinus pain was much reduced and mainly away from the teeth. A bit more energy and go, thinking a lot clearer. Did a bit more of the room tidying - found my long awol Planert of the Daleks bonus disc! Also found my Colour of Magic Graphic novel which, because it's a different size, never got put with my Pratchett books. Thinks I "I'll stick that with Terry's The Unadulterated Cat" which kicked off a half hour search for that book which wasn't filed right. I knew I'd seen it recently but couldn't remember where - eventually located between my non Dredd 2000ad books and my Dreddverse books! Knew I wouldn't have got shot of it as it was a gift from a friend 30 years ago! Managed to make a call to my building society about accessing my money without going into the branch.
Then about an hour before bed the sinus pain descended and settled on my teeth. Couldn't get off, pain dreadful, awake till nearly 4 :-( As a consequence REALLY not firing right this morning.
Today: Quiet day I hope, with more room tidying and attempt to finsh the Kingdom opening. Bins out, Chinese for tea. TMUK have got a get together on Zoom tonight which I'm hoping to make some of but I'll be seeing the New Year itself in with people from church...... and then getting to bed quick cos I'm leading the prayer meeting at 9am New Year's Day!
Pray Day goes OK, Sinuses, CMT and Head cope OK. Pray we stay protected from the virus.
Have a good day, stay safe & well. Happy New Year!
