Towline is good - same as, I kept mine. How hard would it be to make a Ratchet like this? Not a recolour (as I now there was one) but just a new toy in this style with MARB sled and thus no need for fitting all the excessive bulky kibble on the robot. It would not be hard at all. The bastards.

Are we talking robot mode? Because Ratchet & Ironhide were pretty basic robots with no vehicle kibble apart from their bellies. Surely this look would be easier to achieve going the sled route?

Deffo. Pull the top of the van off and you've got a 'toon accurate robot right there. The sled would then have all the foldy ins and outs. Boom. Hasta lasagne.

Throw in a sliding windscreen that can shift from body to face and I'd be as happy as Beast Wars Megatron entering a 'who can say Yes the most' competition.

Oh yeah, it would definitely be incredibly simple to achieve an animation-accurate model doing what you suggest. Unfortunately the sleds didn't appear in the cartoon, which is why they'll never do it. Or something. I don't know - all I know is that the Masterpiece versions of these figures was the perfect time to do that, and they didn't, so... yeah. All we have is our dreams...

Did we not see Ratchet's sled briefly in the Ark in either the pilot or S1 Sunbow? Or am I imagining it?

Yeah it was in the pilot, when they rescue Hound, I believe.

Ah ha!
So a Sunbow-inspired Ratchet toy *could* have a sled if the desire to design it is there!
Philip Ayres: was there a listing for a Leader Ratchet a while ago or was it just a rumour?

There was a rumour or listing a while back (before the Seige one was actually revealed) but I assumed this turned out to be the Shattered Glass pack due to the price.

And this was the first time we see Ratchet transform - along with the sled detaching. So all subsequent transformations were clearly animation errors.

Ratchet looks like the infamous Rob Liefeld Cap with Boobs drawing.

In a lot of cases, cartoon Transformers never looked better than that opening episode.

I always thought a MARBless Ratchet/Ironhide would be easy to do if the made the arms from the roof of the van. Boom sorted.
