A cloth shield is a bit useless though. Not unless there's metal under it. And it's no more illogical than a robot fighting other robots with a sword. Agreed. But wouldn't the cloth get ruined? Also - can it go on his back like the concept art? I think it looks better that way. But yes, robots with swords is stupid - one of my main dislikes.

I prefer the Dinobots with their normal guns.
But clubs, maces, axes all make more sense, and fit more thematically. Swords are basically no different than a club or mace. After all, if swords were effective weapons against metal men, then we wouldn't have developed suits of metal armor in the middle ages.

So... Nightprowler is just an unnaturally grey cheetah. Like...they didn't even attempt to make it a snow leopard.
I'm unsure how to feel about that.

Well, the original is as passable a snow leopard as it is a tiger or cheetah. Which is not very.
But the new one is 100% cheetah pattern with grey fur.

I have less problems with laser swords for transformer! (Star wars lightsabers are a whole 'nother kind of stupid, to me, though)
When TF explains why the swords work with something akin to Grimlock's Energo-Sword, it's a lot easier to swallow than Drift or Sideswipe (movie) just slashing things with otherwise normal blades.

Thinking about it, given these are alien machines with alien technology, a cloth shield is a lot easier to swallow than a robot fighting with a sword. While said cloth shield is largely useless in a melee fight, they typically use energy based guns. It's very feasible to imagine that said cloth is an alien material that absorbs and redistributes said energy blasts.

If we were going for plausibility, robots would be fighting each other with computer viruses, nanobots and electronmagnetic pulses. But none of those look great as hand-held weapons.
The swords and laser guns are just distractions to the real battle going on!

If we're talking alien materials, then couldn't a sword be practical as it could be made of something harder and lighter than whatever TFs are (just normal steel, we're mainly told) and have a blade sharp enough to readily cut through more abundant materials? Think Death's scythe in Discworld. Whereas laser guns etc only seem to be fatal on page 22 out of 22 and even then it tends to be not so bad by the next issue!

Also, I think nostalgia is a terrible driving force, and has carried this line about as far as it'll go. Can't disagree with you there at all. (Well, not without lying.) The things that I've been most excited about over the last couple of years have been the new things that Cyberverse has introduced. These Generations figures are nice and all, but I'm really not that excited by them at all. I want to see something NEW. As for the exclusives, most of them hold no interest for me - which is good for cost reasons. Minerva's the only one I *really* want, since I don't have any Minerva in my collection, so she's a must. Goldbug (as mentioned previously) I'll only be interested in if it's the Goldbug that I'm after. And *maybe* that Orion Pax/Alpha Trion set, depending on what molds they use (I'm guessing SS '86 Kup and Scourge - which'll be fine with me since I have neither of the originals). But nothing else is interesting. Recent years have also scratched that Wreckers itch, so... cheap year next year. Which is for the best.

This may have come up in another thread but God the Legacy boxes are ugly. Siege were great, Earthrise as well, Kingdom got a little garish but Legacy is just an eyesore

I find Siege and Earthrise to be completely unmemorable. I genuinely cannot remember what they look like. Kingdom however, I think is the best packaging we've ever had, and I wish to god they had given us mini posters of it instead of those pointless golden disk cards.
Legacy is a logical extension of Kingdom. Where the previous was nature themed, this is machine. But I don't think it'll pop out on the shelves like Kingdom does.
