I find myself somewhat lukewarm on all of these, as I generally am on much of Legacy these days. Looking at the figures I can pretty confidently imagine what they'll feel like in hand, and that for some reason makes me less enthused about actually buying them. There won't be any surprises. They're good looking figures, generally solidly made, but... that's it. I dunno. Maybe I'm starting to just burn out. The only thing keeping me going on these lines is the availability of characters we've not had before.
Point in case is the Pax and Trion set. It certainly looks good, very cartoon accurate. Except the PottoP Pax that combined with his trailer, despite being less cartoon accurate, was more interesting. Likewise TR mid-life-crisis Alpha Trion was, whilst in no way cartoon accurate, at least interesting in what it was doing. These are competent, but uninteresting. Will I break and get them anyway? Maybe..? But only if discounted.
Skullgrin is kind of disappointing. I was expecting a whole load of Core-class Pretenders, and it would've been fun to have them all the same size. But on the other hand, being at the Deluxe size point is good because they clearly think people have some interest in the character. It's just a shame that the design is so uninteresting. I was hoping for an interesting merge of shell and inner robot, and... it's just the inner robot wearing a hat. Still, I'll probably end up picking it up anyway, in the hopes that maybe one day Hasbro will actually do Pretenders again.
TM2 Megatron I was initially not that interested in. I saw the initial picture on Jo's phone, and just dismissed it as a lazy engineering re-use of LG BW Megatron. But having seen the clearer pictures, and pictures of the dragon mode, I'm much more taken with it. It clearly does have a very similar transformation to the previous Megatron, but that dragon mode is really nice looking. I'll not be rushing to buy it, but I will be very tempted...
