I nominate Beast Machines Nightscream - the giant bat mode is fantastic (particularly the wings), but it is let down by an unstable robot mode (how do you get it to stand?) and a robot head that is too show accurate for its own good. I seem to recall several people on this forum complaining about this toy during the early 2000s.

Between Longtooth, AM Thundercracker and RID Magnus I think.
I'll go with Thundercracker as he has the more modest colours.

I remember joining when there was a WST swapsies thread, so just after Beast Machines. Explains how I missed out on the Nightscream for discussion. He was easier to stand up than Mega or Supreme Cheetor though. I have never seen any of those toys in the plastic, but my most infamous toy is that bastard Mach Kick. Aha, I meant to put Mach Kick on the list! |

I don't honestly understand the hatred Mach Kick gets.
He has a terrible transformation scheme, but there are others since, who's engineering are considerably worse (rotf leader prime off the top of my head, but far from the only example).
It has a decent alt mode. It has a decent robot mode. Can't say either of these things about ER Arcee. Can't say it about T30 Arcee, either. Both of which are significantly more popular.

For me it is context. Mach Nick was a horrible toy (for me) at the time but doesn't seem so remarkable after years of toys that takes hours to transform.
