I don't understand that reference. (Even though I've just created the universe.) Shockdoz is the most intimidating of all images conjoured by the human mind... Shockprowl in a Zardoz costume!

How can you have an infinite board? Where is D in infinite? What goes before A?

All things end, my friends.
But as all things end, all things must start.
The Connect 4 Infinite board starts at a1. And from that starting point IT IS INFINITE.
Infinite on the vertical, infinite on the horizontal.

What are the rules of infinite board? Same as 'normal' Connect 4, except we are not bound by your punny human board of 7 by 7. The board is infinite in size.

Would you like the first move, Doctor? I thought you went C1? I have since decided The Doctor should have the honour of The First Move. And as I created this universe I can decide and do whatever the heck I like. I most certainly did not forget that I had already played a move, and instead have made myself look awesome by giving my opponent the first move.

So what happens when you play to the left of column A?

No, I just explained that; all things end, all things start, this infinity begins at a1. It's my universe, them's the rules. If ya ya don't like it... find yourself another universe across the hyper-membrane. Infinity is as infinity does.

How can you have an infinite board? Where is D in infinite? What goes before A? A BC. (Or A BCE if you prefer the secular numbering system.) Martin

How can you have an infinite board? Where is D in infinite? What goes before A? Negative letters, obviously. I was going to say that, but you'd need a zero letter between +A and -A, since +1 and -1 are two apart, not one apart. So I went for A AD and A BC instead, because there is no zero year between 1 BC and 1 AD - they are consecutive years. Martin

Maybe the board is like a mobius strip and A loops back to Z?

So strictly speaking, there's nothing to stop you playing a disc in A+10 to the power of infinity, but it might take a while to connect it up to D1.

I mean, as a Doctor Who fan it should be AA.

I don't think gravity would apply actually, you'd need the whole of time and space to accommodate a board that big.

That would be fun... but it's not infinite. Actually, thinking about this... A wraparound board of 7 removes the need for every non-vertical line to go through the middle column. Does this make the game better or worse?
