It'll shelfwarm when it hits the shelves here so I feel no panic. I suspect many TF's will at their current RRP in this economy, especially after April.

JP nailed it over on FB, repaint as Action Master Prowl (yes I nearly typed Thundercracker there). I think thats what the proportions have been screaming at me, but I didn't twig because the chest is so different. Surely that'd just be AniProwl's Elite Guard redeco? A Transforming Action Master Prowl..... .... an Elite Guard Prowl........ ... so Action Master Elite Guard Prowl. I see no problems here. |

Tarn absolutely will be a shelfwarmer.
He's a c-lister at best, who's target audience typically preorders their transformers.
There's not anyone outside the hardcore collectors and IDW fans who knows who he it.
Like Jhiaxus, once he gets into stores, he'll sit there.

Actual kids buying Transformers at retail are unlikely to know who most of the toys are outside the usual suspects.
I doubt Tarn or Jhiaxus are any more obscure than the rest.

True, but I wasn't even thinking about kids. I was thinking about the type of collector who pays little attention to media outside of what they remember (which is usually various cartoons). A kid wouldn't know who Blackarachnia is, but she was a major character in two mainstream cartoons, and this type of collector probably would. And honestly, this seems to be the ones who fill out the ranks, once we hardcore fans have had our go. |

My knee jerk reaction to the comment about Jhiaxus would be "How very dare you - that's Jhiaxus!", but you're right - he's currently sat at half-price clearance at In Demand, which is itself a site for dedicated collectors. There is certainly a core audience for that character, but we are, alas, not as many as we'd like to be. And despite MTMTE's popularity, which is both more recent than G2 and, let's be honest, less obscure than G2, I can definitely still see Tarn falling into the same sort of category.
Not that I'll wait for him to hit half-price, of course - he's Tarn, and I wants him, precious. Oh well.

I've spoken about Sludge & Scraphook in their respective threads. One is good, one is.... yes well.
Core Soundblaster is exactly as you'd expect having had Soundwave. Clear Purple chest door looks fab and, and I'm not sure this was obvious before, he comes with Laserbeak
Hot Shot is odd. VERY thin - need to dig out my Armada PL: to show just how thin. Shoulder pads are attached to the backpack, which is hinged to the body, and anchored at the top of his body by two tinsy tabs. Shoulder pads thus keep popping off.
Needlenose is big & chunky. Be careful opening the weapons bag., the gun barrels were separate from the Targetmaster one mine

I can see Lio Convoy Leo Prime being popular on the basis that it's a lion with an Optimus head, particularly given the Rise of the Beasts connection.
Not sure about Tarn. I can imagine it being sold at a sub-£30 price later in the year, though it is a movie year so who knows.

I honestly expect most TF's to sit around this year due to high inflation/wage cuts/TF price increases. I feel no rush to buy anything at full-price.
