If Shadowstrip is a package refresh, are they counting him as actually properly released the first time round? I thought he only turned up through Hasbro Asia imports? Did that one and Crasher reach shops in America? They made it to pulse US Thinking about it, the toy colours Hot Rod that was down as Velocitron - did that come out? No |

I guessed they'd move to another planet from the anime after Velocitron!
Grimlock and Cloudburst are 100% going on my wants list.
I just hope that, seeing as they are Wal-Mart exclusives in the USA, they'll be Smyths Exclusives here in the UK, like the Velocitron range was!

This is the fourth outing for the SS86 Jazz mould and still no sign of a Stepper/Ricochet. He does seem to have acquired two new weapons here: a shoulder launcher and a tubular hand gun: On the packaging he looks to be hand holding the shoulder launcher, which has a painted missile tip there I cannot work out quite how it mounts on the shoulder though! EDIT: It looks angled in the picture above and the other photo showing the shoulder cannon I think the tubular gun is in the back hole with the launcher pegged into that |

Is that an IDW head on the Grimlock box art? Regardless, yes to Grimlock and Jazz. Fingers very crossed for a Skullcruncher Mirage. That certainly does look very IDW-esque, which I'm sure will annoy a fair few people if this is the first time it's used - although it could also be a quirk of the art style, so hard to be sure until we see actual pictures. Which does raise the question of why they've shown us pictures of all the others, but not this one... But yes, after all I've been banging on about it I can't not get Grimlock. And apparently, even though the Conjunx only learned of that colour scheme's existence two days ago, we're still going to have to get the Jazz, too. |

IDToys and Star have them too Well that's interesting. ID usually get some of everything in by whatever means, but if Star have these too it suggests Smyths don't want an exclusive line any more? Kapow too. |

That's a good point. Whilst I will be very much getting Grimlock I'd also planned to wait until he was reduced in Smyths. But if they're not going to get him in then I might have to bite that pricey bullet...
Speaking of which, I'm reminded that in order to justify the price SS '86 Grimlock came packaged with a small Wheelie. So where's our Toxitron Wheelie, eh..? (Yes, I know the SG Grimlock doesn't have one either. Just making a point...)

Yes, this has made me sit up and think. I'd firmly moved into 'wait for sales' with TFs given the barrage of clearance sales we've had recently, but the Toxitron line might be a 'pre-order because I don't want to miss it' situation for the first time in a while (Origins Jazz aside).
I like the Velocitron toys and would have bought more had I not been whipped up into the MotU frenzy, but it was a kind of 'finishing off jobs' line what with the need to cap off the Diaclone repaints. Toxitron feels like a more unified purpose, even if it is a niche one that you'd never expect Hasbro to put out - unreleased G2 repaints as a theme for a mainstream line? These really do feel like where the Selects line has gone. Selects now is just the stuff Walmart doesn't want.
However this is making me feel I need to make more effort to pick up the other G2 releases we've had I've not got as far as, like Leadfoot and Road Rocket. I feel a list of 'modern era Generations G2 homages' coming on.
