I know I read Shadows of the Empire at the time, and the Minicomics which were packed with Kenner's SOTE 2 packs: Boba Fett vs. IG-88 and Prince Xizor vs. Darth Vader www.rebelscum.com/SOTEmultipacks.asp

SOTE remains something of a sore spot for me on multiple levels. I never quite felt I was getting the full story from either of the versions of the media I read - I had the comic series and the book - and the single figures for the line were made of unobtanium her in the UK. The two packs you could get, and I did from the Woking TRU as soon as I saw them, but from what I recall the Minicomics are cutdown versions of battles in the main book. It'll be interesting to see if the reality supports my recollection!

Star Wars Rebellion covers the period in which the original movies are set, between 1977's Star Wars and 1983's Return of the Jedi.

This book was originally scheduled for Jun 2024 in the traditional slot for several mutant books in support for the X-Men Hellfire Gala. The video revealing this, and the as yet unreleased New Mutants Epic 4, went up 18th May 2023, before that year's Hellfire Gala which changed everything for the mutants in the current comics - was this a piece of deliberate misdirection by Marvel to make people think the status quo would be maintained and there would be a 2024 Gala?

This is long after I bailed on the title and I know little of what's going on here.

The gap between Essential 9 and the Byrne Visionaries always annoyed me. Visionaries 0 broke it up a bit but still.... It's only as I was researching this that I discovered that the gap between Essential 9 and Visionaries 0, FF 208-214, were previously collected in Nova Classic 3 www.previewsworld.com/Catalog/MAR140780

I was also somewhat surprised to find that John Byrne drew 6 of those 7 issues, 209 onwards - 208 is the second of two consecutive issues drawn by Sal Buscema.

The surprise came from my belief that Byrne Visionaries 0 collected all his work involving the FF pre his big run: Marvel Team-Up #61-62, Marvel Two-In-One #50 & FF 215-218, 220-221

Of that 218 crosses over with Peter Parker 42 and I'd expect that to appear in an FF Epic

The missing FF issue in Byrne Visionaries 0 is 219 by Doug Moenech & Bill Sienkiewicz who go on to create issues 222-231

So a reminder:

Spider-Man/Deadpool Modern Epic 1: Isn't It Bromantic? contained Spider-Man/Deadpool #1-14, 17–18, 1.MU

Spider-Man/Deadpool 16 & 16 were left out, as were Deadpool (2015) 28-29 & Deadpool and the Mercs for Money #9-10, which make up the Til Death Do Us... crossover that this Epic is named after.

Spider-Man/Deadpool 9 & 10, 13 & 14 and 17 & 18 are the Itsy Bitsy storyline.

The plan *appears* to have been originally for Spider-Man/Deadpool 9-14 to take all 6 parts of Itsy Bitsy consecutively, with Till Death Do Us... following in issues 15 & 16. Those issues were locked against the other two Deadpool title and then "SOMETHING" happens and it all goes a bit Pete Tong necessitating TWO fill in issues following the second part of Itsy Bitsy. Parts 3 & 4 follow the fill ins but with no room to manoeuvre the concluding two chapters are delayed till after the crossover.

When the Modern Epics came to look at this material, a probable volume break occurs right in the middle of that mess. Faced with a decision that was in no way going to please everyone Marvel opted to print all of Itsy Bitsy on the bounce in it's originally intended positions, then the fill in issues and hold Till Death Do Us... back for Epic 2. Your Mileage Will Vary on this decision.

So we start here with the six issue crossover and then have 14 issues straight of the book named title leaving issues 33-50 for an Epic 3. Boom, done....

.... except, as the bonus contents very much insinuate, there's a LOT more Deadpool Modern Epics to come

Epic 19 is much more likely I feel, can't see any reason why that wouldn't come out bar that I can't see any reason that it hasn't come out already so there may be SOMETHING there I don't know about.

2025 has already jumped into Ultimates with many books at once and I suspect we'll see the same thing with Heroes Reborn/Return, with Thor 25 The Dark Gods leading the way. So....

So this book is a bit of a mixed bag compared to some of the older Cap large collections with the tail end of Red Menace and the start of Death of Captain America

This title is great stuff throughout but the quality does decrease slightly the further from the superb initial Winter Soldier arc you get. The Winter Kills special is great and I'm very pleased to see Fallen Son in here as there's some great stuff in there, including issue 3, where Clint Barton meets Kate Bishop for the first time, which really should be in the forthcoming Hawkeye Epic 4 Shafted.

I've broken the remaining thin Cap trades up into roughly equal sized blocks that kind of look like Epics and it looks like there's three (Epics 3-5) prior to issue 620

Epic 14 242-258 Annual 17 Peter Parker Spectacular Spider-Man 85 - 20 issues worth

* Peter Parker 85 is an essential part of the Hobgoblin story cover dated December 1983 the same month as ASM 247

The one volume gap between 15 Ghosts of the Past and Epic 17 Kraven's Last Hunt is the notorious Epic 16: Amazing Spider-Man 273-288, Spectacular Spider-Man 111 (which follows on from ASM 273) & Marvel Graphic Novel 22: Hooky. This is almost certainly the number 1 most wanted Epic Collection!

ASM 273 feeds into Peter Parker Spectacular Spider-Man 111 so that's probably in there too. ASM 279 is part of the Missing In Action crossover with Spectacular 117 and Web Of 16-18. That could well make a contribution to ASM Epic 16 but I see it more as Web Of's event. Unfortunately the mapping I have for Web Of makes it a little difficult to fit in the ASM & Spectacular issues at that stage.

My hopes of the exclusive Spider-Man story from issues 607-610 of the UK weekly are receding in Amazing Spider-Man Epics.
