Optimus Prime fits in there too! If you fold him up a bit and maybe take some bits off. But it counts! I've never seen the Origin BB, how big is it? Er... Not as wide as Siege Sidewswipe and not as long? About the width of Netflix Bumblebee with the wings folded up like that. I'm sure that someone else will be more useful soon.

Perhaps. I've never seen the Origin BB, how big is it? Not huge, smaller than the palm of your hand. But I have small hands!

So in that case then, where do those blue wings go in vehicle mode? I've not spotted them in the display robot mode pictures. May just be an oddity of that picture

Like a small boat, on the ocean, setting big waves into motion?

So the wings are a detachable shield for the van? Neat.

So in that case then, where do those blue wings go in vehicle mode? Those "blue wings" are a separate piece that's a blast shield for vehicle, because I guess he had that or something?

In the cartoon, Wheeljack throws up a shield to protect from some flames. The blue thing is that, it just stores really awkwardly on his back in robot mode.

Neat gimmick, like it. That's a pretty chunky vehicle mode for a deluxe. The shield is a nice accessory too. Approved!

This is not the first time we've had to tell him that: I was just looking at bread van Wheeljack - this is just going to be a remould of Origins Jazz isn't it. It's a Voyager, next size up Oh yes. So it is. Nice. That'll be some good variety then. I blame his advancing years and being stuck with children all day

I don't understand the blue thing. -Ralph The windscreen type thing that mysteriously sprays itself upwards from the base of his box mode in MTME Episode 1 and reflects the laser beams that the generic jets shoot at him - it is that. Karl

I was looking at it thinking, surely that's a Voyager, but I was sure the conversation had said Deluxe. Yes, senility obviously.

I blame his advancing years and being stuck with children all day They certainly are somewhat testing at the moment. And having to work out what that bloody elf does every morning isn't helping.

I've never seen the Origin BB, how big is it? He's about 9cm x 9cm in saucer mode. That shortens to 6 1/2 - 7 cm wide with the wings folded up

The drawn instructions aren't bad in and of themselves. What makes them unusable is it being printed on dark backgrounds and using even darker "highlights" to showcase changes.
Like I don't understand why this has become such a difficult concept for them!

Unknown.
I think the problem for me is that I always wondered if it was possible to do a saucer Bumblebee: there was something about it that caught my imagination but I never thought I would see in toy form. So the toy was magical.
Bread van Wheeljack is a box who turns into a robot with child-bearing thighs and the backpack of a doomsday prepper.

I have to admit to a certain degree of congruity with your thoughts here. The Bumblebee is a very clever piece of engineering, which does surprisingly well at getting a cartoon Bumblebee vehicle form to turn into something approaching the cartoon Bumblebee humanoid mode. An impressive achievement given that they were never actually designed around the idea of one of them being able to actually turn into the other. I respect the work and the ingenuity that went into it.
The Wheeljack is...eh, the boxy hovertruck mode is fine, it is what you'd expect from a utility hovercraft. In fact, shrink the vehicle mode down to 1/285th scale and it'd be a great civilian hovertruck for a Battletech scenario. The "ball" in a "protect the VIP" scenario, or part of a convoy to be defended.
The humanoid mode looks...alarmingly flat, with a pile of other flat things strapped to the back of it. I kind of feel like the top half looks like a Sandwich board waiting for someone to wear it...
I can see why for people who have a great affection for the original Sunbow miniseries, or for whom nostalgia is a strong driver this is going to hit the spot.
I don't really have that strong an affection for those episodes (comparative to other TF media), and I think nostalgia isn't really that strong influence on me, so I think that this one is definitely a case of "not really aimed at me".

Arrival from Cybertron was one of two Transformers VHSeses that I had for a while as a kid, so yes, it's the nostalgia that's getting me here. Damn and blast them for showing me up as a mark. Although at least I have the excuse that Wheeljack is one of the Conjunx's favourite characters, so I have to get it anyway...
