Well that was a journey.
I had fond memories of the U-96 techno version of Das Boot, so gave it a listen after it came up here.
It has not aged well.
However, I realised it's the tune that I really liked and went in search of the film soundtrack, which as it turns out has some proper thumping synth and is very good. I ended up in Spotify listening to the soundtrack and very much enjoying it, I must rewatch the film, but then... then... in the 'suggested other tracks' at the bottom I discovered that Doctor Who's own Mark Ayres has done a cover of the Das Boot Theme, which appears on the excitingly titled "The Longest Day - The Ultimate World War Movie Theme Collection" CD. This is a four disc collection where 90% of the tracks are performed by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, except Mr Ayres chipping in said Das Boot theme and the theme from 'Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence'.
So I listened to that too.
If you'd told me an hour ago I'd be listening to Mark Ayres doing a rendition of Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence, which truth be told isn't very good, I would not have believed you. It's all Ralph's fault.

Anytime else noticed how the theme from The Battle of Midway sounds like a prototype for Superman?

It's not 90's dance.

No, but by the time you're 72 90s dance might be in vogue.
