Don't you start. Look, there are 5 whole days left in this month yet. That's plenty of time to invent a time machine and go back to May. When it was cool.

For me the financial month begins at payday when the bulk of the money goes in
|

|
Post by The Doctor on Jun 26, 2024 10:19:02 GMT
That makes not the slightest bit of sense.
I get paid on the 25th every month but I don't then count that as the start of the next month!

My spending spreadsheet has a page for each month.
It always starts 25th when I get paid my PHI from work, the largest amount of money coming in in the month.
If I get paid 25th June that financial month has 6 days of June in it and 24 of July.
Since the majority of day in the financial month are in July, it makes sense to label this July even though we are not yet in the July calendar month

I would be the same as Phil for the purposes of financial planning, but as my pay day is the last working day of the month it usually coincides with a new calendar month anyway.

Receiving money for July in late June doesn't mean we are now living in July, only that you have acquired the financial resources to cover that month.

Ah! So your financial July starts Friday! Ah no, hang on. I think I misread that being so knackered. My financial July starts on Saturday, July 1st. Although if I'm doing alright I tend to backdate money spent on the first weekend into the previous month to give me a head start on the next month.
