just come back from holiday, and it rained every day!
we attempted to go to edinburugh as well but....no luck unfortunatley as it looked really nice there, but then I started to think about the accents and got scared.
Don't worry about the accents in Edinburgh - it is rapidly becoming a sort of homogenised mass. A sort of tourist-friendly dialed-down Central Belt accent. Now if you went up to Aberdeen - or, heaven forbid, out of Aberdeen city and into the surrounding towns and villages then you would be in for a rough time. I spent five years in Aberdeen and even so, I still struggled to understand folk from places like Banchory and Inverurie.
Nick - sorry to hear that the first couple of places didn't turn out so well. But on the bright side it sounds like the interviews went fairly well, which is a hopeful sign. Sometimes it is a matter of waiting for the right set of circumstances to align - which will happen. I was talking to my sister about this recently (with her starting her new job a couple of weeks ago), and we were saying that perseverance is important - and also that sometimes the first post that comes along isn't necessarily the right one (as you have already discovered) I have confidence that the right job is out there and that you will find it.
I'm glad this week is over - it has been more than a little crazy at work, and I am glad that I don't have anything strenuous planned for the weekend. I did have one moment of accidental comedy at work though. I was talking to my team leader when my glasses decided that they had had quite enough of being a single object. The screw on the right hand leg just dropped straight out and headed for the floor. The result being that the leg went off in an arc to the right and down, and the rest of the glasses headed off in pretty much the mirror-image direction. I managed to stick my hands out so that the two halves of the glasses dropped neatly into them at the same moment.
Sadly I didn't manage to do anything clever to catch the screw - which is currently halfway there.
I mended them temporarily with a staple and was back in business in a few minutes. But I guess a visit to the options is in the offing for tomorrow.....

(PS - Shockprowl, Cobra Commander is indeed Chris Latta, who was also Starscream in the Sunbow 'toon - and also doing exactly the same voice as he used for Starscream. Far be it from me to suggest he wasn't entirely trying on "Gi Joe"..... but if so he wouldn't have been the only one).
