I read issue 4 last night and was amused by a couple of things. Firstly, on page 7 Prowl comments 'If you wanted an indication of just how bad this is getting, I think you just saw it.' Was he referring to the Autobots current situation or the AHM comic?
Secondly, on the letters page somebody mentions that most of IDW's stories are bad even going as far as saying that the Beast Wars miniseries was a 'terrible mess'. He then goes on to congratulate IDW on how fantastic AHM is!!!!

Not a wise marketing decision to inform readers what they previously bought was rubbish. In other news, the solicit for #8: THE TRANSFORMERS: ALL HAIL MEGATRON #8
Written by Shane McCarty, art by Guido Guidi, covers by Trevor Hutchison and Casey Coller.
The crisis on Cybertron escalates as the Autobots are in a race for their lives against the Swarm! Could this be it? It's a pulse-pounding issue as the identity of the traitor is finally revealed and not all of the Autobots survive the experience.
32 pages, $3.99. -Ralph

If all of that is going to happen in issue 8 what the hell is going to happen in the remaining four issues?

The cover for #6 and solicit from #5 indicates they'll be fighting the S-word from next ish.
I started typing "so they're STILL going to be fighting it by issue 8?" and then I remembered issues 1 thru 3.
The marketing promised Decepticons conquering Earth, WHEN IS THIS GOING TO EFFING HAPPEN.

There's a five-page preview onlineS P O I L E R S . . . So aside from Kup being sane and taking charge over tac-unit commanders Hot Rod and Springer, we've also got Blaster in a combat role. Blaster... the propaganda DJ... in spaceship combat. And this appears to be on the day the Decepticons took over, so it can't be he's there out of desperation. That line-up just doesn't make sense. To be fair, we now know a bit about how the Decepticons took over and the Transformers being linked into their ship is a fun idea. Stuff actually happens in the five pages too. The inconsistency is still annoying though, I won't be changing my mind and picking this up.

And hang on, Perceptor's there. He was a base officer last we saw him, why's he serving under Kup in minor combat?!

Some knitting, possibly. -Ralph knitting is a hard and tricky skill. I don't know why the Decepticons hadn't thought of it earlier. Although chainmail would be more useful lots and lots of chainmail, oooo and you could add jewels or tinfoil to it then would it be called ~** SPARKLE-MAIL**~

Battlecruiser 'Torment' indeed. Ratbat should be more prominent, then we could have the Battlecruisers Fuel Efficient, Listed Asset, and Tax Deductible.

*Reads 5-page preview*
Wheeee!!
Autobots all hardwired into their spaceship (just like Navigator from Marvel UK's "Man of Iron") yet they're talking to each other. Out loud.
Wheeee!!
Kup, in charge of the ship, while "smoking" a cigar-like instrument. Perhaps it's the Cybertronian equivalent of nictine gum to keep him sane.
Wheeee!!
Autobots (each of whom all on previously separate missions in IDW stories) all in the same ship on the run from The Swarm. (Maybe that nasty dust stuff from Generation 2, or a "swarm" of Insecticons or even flying Sharkticons!)
Wheeee!!

That Skywatch base was clearly built in a hurry, IDW should've just claimed it wasn't an error but that Skywatch didn't have time to do proper door signs then...

Hmmm. "Torment", is a pretty daft name for a warship I would say. I suppose its sister ships would be the "Agony", "Injury" and " Invalidity", down through destroyers called things like "Hang-nail" and "Muscle Spasm" to the frigate "Ice Cream Headache"?
I didn't think much of the preview to be honest. Some painfully cliched dialogue there, and a distinct lack of separate "voice" to the characters. On the technological front it seems odd that they have an interface system that allows them to run ships systems by direct interface, but can't put together a more efficient tactical data-link than shouting across the flight deck. They rather missed an opportunity there to make the Transformers something other than big metal men.
I do miss the design aesthetic of the previous IDW stories as well - there the Autobot ships looked chunky and reasonably battleworthy - the one in the AHM setting seems rather fragile and haphazard by comparison.

You know, this whole "they all talk in the same voice" criticism against Furman is weird to me. Of course it's the same voice... it's the one in your head that you hear as you're reading the comic. It's like not like a newspaper because all the journalists sound the same, or not liking an Internet forum because all the posters sound the same. Ah, yes. It's the fundamental difference between passively watching a cartoon as bright colours and silly voices are pushed into your brain without thinking and reading the written word, running your fingers under the words so you don't lose your place, forming the shapes of the vowels with your lips and, gasp, using your own imagination to bring it all to life.

So Springer hacked up Kup for some of his parts and rebuilt them with some other new parts to reconstruct another Kup?
Which he has named New Kup?

I bet, like that first Transformers movie, it was Hot Rod that rebuilt Kup, probably underwater on Sharkticonia-7. The "you left a piece out" piece was jammed into Kup's mouth by an irate Hot Rod and left there as a cybercigar.
All Hail Megatron is a story that writes itself!

Heard that issue 5 has it that only America has been conquered, and America is making sure all the other countries stay out of it.
Which probably explains why the Royal Canadian Air Force hasn't teamed up with Russia or someone, said "bollocks to you America you have no assets to stop us", and then carpet bombing New York City to a big crater so the Decepticons don't go after THEM next.
Also saw a guy say:
Yes. Gimme total war you gits.
