AHM fans already seem to be complaining about Mr. Furman's "stilted" dialogue. Tee hee! -Ralph

Now I'm going to upset people and say that I got over my early misgivings about AHM (which were mainly based on the lack of continuity being evidenced). Oh, I doubt you'll upset anyone. Different opinions are allowed! In other news, some more of AHM was in the latest Titan comic. Not a lot of reading, very stupid characters. Fantastic colouring though. -Ralph

I picked up a carrier bag of IDW comics at a local car boot sale this morning... about 30 comics for a fiver. Mainly spotlights and some movie stuff but also 11 issues of AHM! Lucky me.

That is good going Graham. That works out approx. 16p per issue which is about how much I would have liked to pay for an issue of AHM!

But Tesco are selling Fudges for 7p now and you could get two pieces of confectionery joy, and still have 2p left over for that price!

Hmmm. It's a tricky choice. Two fingers of fudge or a copy of AHM. I'll have to think about that one!

But a finger of Fudge is just enough to give the kids a treat! They're full of chocolatey goodness!

As luck would have it, AHM issue 11 has two of what I had been compiling for tomorrow's Hublog article.

I like Don's new take, although there are some headshots where the face/helm ratio gets a little funky in the megacephalic direction.
I like Chee's art - damn shame it's not staying in B&W. Maybe once it's hit stands, he'll post the rest of his uncolored work in his dA account.

I can provide the pregnant teenagers to bolster the audience, if needed. Less said about your private life the better, hmm?

I can confirm that he speaks truly. The seven pence Cadbury's Fudge can be found within Tesco stores at present. A very good deal it is too.

I'll have to check them out. Also, are there any shops that still do Curly Wurly's? I haven't seen them for some time now.

Thought I'd give this a go as it's essentially the first issue of a new series. The Starscream story is very, very good. Rejoice. Quality has returned.

Mike Costa.
If the comics must be Sunbowised, he knows how to do it well. And the art/colouring combo is stunning.

It got savaged by Hannibal Tabu over at CBR's The Buy Pile - but as he was pratically emptying his load on every copy of AHM in his reviews I think I shall have to pick it up.

Good artwork and presentation. I enjoyed the nod to the animated movie in Starscream's story.
My only complaint relates to p5 of the Optimus & Ironhide story. Why, Simon? Why?

What is wrong with that guy! No idea. To be honest I only ever skim his column every now and then as of all the CBR columns his is the most dreary and asinine. Andy

I found Furman's story to be surprisingly boring, which disappointed me. Don's art is fine, and once he gets into his stride with it in the ongoing, I'm sure it'll settle into a solid style.
Costa's Starscream story was much better, and also much more like the Starscream I 'know'. His realization that the Cons were only going to follow him because he has the mystically useless object was good, as was the facepalm of 'God, these idiots/Now what do I do?' at the end. It did seem to continue the cartoon influence, and I am a little hesitant to see how that feeds into the ongoing.

The Ironhide story was ok.
I will say though, that having only read online previews online and what's been in Titan of McCarthy's AHM, I can follow both stories fine. Hurray. Really should have been a #1.
The gag about Starscream being worried about throwing Megatron out the airlock made me laugh out loud. It's funny whether you get the original reference or not, which is how these things should be done.

Makes the story more enjoyable.

Both stories are fun stuff, but in both cases the art... well, Don's is alright, it just doesn't fit very well, while Chee's art was brilliant until they smothered it with the slagging colouring. It turns great art into cack. And between the new origin for Ironhide meeting Oppy and Starscream's disdainful thoughts on Megatron, this is totally clashing with AHM. Which this is #13 of. That's... interesting editing. Laughed my butt off at poor Starscream going " " on the last page though. ;D

Just received this issue through the post this morning. I haven't had a chance to read it yet but I think the art on the second story isn't too great. It just looks too 'fan-arty' for my liking.

Nasty slapped on Decepticon symbol on page 5, but I didn't think the colouring was too bad on the second story. Though based on the B&W preview I really don't think it needed it. I didn't have any complaints with the story which bodes well for the ongoing.
