If you're going to AA and not met any/many of us before, please, please, PLEASE come and say hello! It'll be nice to put faces to names.
There will be a TMUK table which, I imagine, will be manned by the contributors of the "Robot War: A User's Guide" magazine so that can serve as our Debris*.
We're a very friendly bunch. Much nicer, in fact, than the rest of the Internet put together. So come along and introduce yourself!
*Secret Autobot Hideout doncha know.

Just when we'd managed to coax a few north of the M25... Think with one or two in the very small *minority* it went beyond the joke. I SERIOUSLY had a few people ask me a couple of years ago when we did a survey for AA if we'd consider relocating to London as they wouldn't attend otherwise and some genuinely said no to attending as it wasn't in London! lol |

Well, Transforce was in 2000, just about - the two-day one in the halls of residence (near Euston Road, I think).
So, there are Londoners who won't go to a convention in Birmingham... Got any Australians coming this year, Simes?

How far is Birmingham from London, anyway? A couple of hours on the train, maybe? From my few visits to London I gather that the public transport is prohibitively expensive- maybe that's a factor.
I still remember the sting from Transforce 2004, where getting the train to James O's house from the airport cost more than the flight from Glasgow O.o

Just over 90 minutes from London Euston to Birmingham New Street by train and if you book tickets in advance or travel on a Saturday / off peak it's not that expensive.
Coaches aren't that bad either and run from Victoria straight to Birmingham Digbeth and I think they're only around £25 tops although I can't remember how long they take - it's been a while!
No-one from Australia this year although we do have groups from Sweden, Germany and Norway if I remember right and a dealer from Singapore! ;D

Mega Bus means there is no excuse for anyone not to travel from London. The mrs and I pay £2 each return to get from Preston to London (stopping in Birmingham) when visiting family/friends.

Never used Megabus myself (strange I know, but I've been advised by doctors not to use coaches for long distance travel because I'm prone to blood clots) but it is one of the options we've recommended on the AA website and in the info pack for attendees.

I've got to take three buses up to the convention. One from my home village to Leicester, another from Leicester to Birmingham Digbeth and a third from Digbeth to the convention.
