They were *very* over-priced at RRP, which would not have appealed to more casual fans/kids. -Ralph Yeah the original RRP was nuts, especially as they kindly priced the basics and deluxes the same I still want to know who made the decision to reissue Retrax. I love him but come on!!

There's still a few of those reissues I'd pick up if I spot them cheap to fill holes in my original BW collection.

When I was in for a skim yesterday my local Game has a Beast Ware reissue Cheetor for £5 along with 2x Iguanus reissues that I think were £25.
I was considering picking up a £30 Tonkinator as I didn't get myself a Christmas gift this year, but I still couldn't bring myself to do it. They also had Minerva down from the high £20 range to £16.

I would get a Retrax if I came across one for under a tenner. But the prices are so low on ebay for originals that it would really only be because it was there and I was there and it was a thing, you know.

I got put off the Retrax reissue when I read that there are parts missing compared to the original.
It's a huge shame the reissues bombed like this, but I'm glad to have finally experienced Primal and Megatron this year. And it's nice to think that with them being so cheap and available in random, non-specialist, shops that some kids whose parents couldn't afford more modern Transformers have had these incredible toys instead with all their playability.

Does that code work? I can't get it to.
Edit, ah right. It only works on stuff specifically in the Boxing Day sale. Thought I was on for a super cheap Skyquake then.
Still, £35 isn't bad.

Quick question all....
With Legacy Transmetal 2 Megatron down to £30 at Smyths, is it worth picking up a couple to keep mint-in-box and put away to sell at a future date?

It's very hard to guess what toys will increase in value. Some do a lot, some just a little and some you just can't give away.
I wouldn't personally buy toys for investment as you can end up with stuff taking up space for years and you might get only an extra fiver or so off them. Or nothing at all.

Indeed. Purchasing toys for investment purchasing is arguably even more like gambling than purchasing stocks and shares as an investment. Only with the added problem of having a physical product that you have to store and care for in the interim.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I just figured, with that particular Transmetal Megs figure being pretty popular, it might be worth grabbing as a small investment. That being said, popular figures like that usually end up with a re-release or pack refresh within a year or two anyway, so I shall take your advice on board and not bother
