I stuck a £10 bet on at the bookies for Comply or Die to win the Grand National today and it won. At 7-1 I calculate that has made me £70 plus the £10 I put on it making a total of £80 that William Hill has to give me when I next step through the doors. Further still I had the same horse on a sweepstake at work and when I come into work on Monday morning my supervisor is going to hand me a crisp £20 note. £100 in total for just sitting in front of the TV watching a horse race can't be bad.

A pleasant last couple of days. Had over 15 hours positive on flexi-time, which was the maximum limit, meaning I'd lose any extra time I accumulated from now on, so took yesterday afternoon off to get it back down.
Saw '10,000 BC', which was utter crap (except for the CG animals, which were cutting-edge) and 'Son or Rambow', which is simply wonderful. A lovely, lovely British film about two schoolboys in the 1980s trying to make their own sequel to 'First Blood' - very funny and enjoyable. Then went and sat in the audience of Radio 4's 'Any Questions', which was being recorded in Cardiff University.
Today got my broadband set up, spent an hour and a half at the Museum getting things set up for showing people the peregrine falcons, then got a quick bus to the WMC for the lunchtime storytelling session. And now we have the return of Doctor Who! Hurrah!
Something bad will probably happen tomorrow...

Then went and sat in the audience of Radio 4's 'Any Questions', which was being recorded in Cardiff University. Martin What an incredibly cool and grown up thing to do! I'd never have thought of that! I'm on a 1200 - 0000 shift today. One of our new shifts. In some ways it's a good shift, 'cos I get time to play wi Piglet before comming to work, and then get home in time for a relatively normal nights sleep, even if I get a late job. One the other hand, I'm very much aware I'm working almost all day, and almost all night. Seems like a long shift. Been busy too. Just had a rather 'tense' job. Bit pissed off 'cos a parcel I send to Dark Stranger "first" class still has arrived. Bloody Royal "Mail". How D.S's can arrive the next day, and mine take Godknows how long is beyone me. Hope it's alright. Just hope Mrs Shockprowl's remembered to tape Doctor Who! Although I'm dreading The Tate... Ian

Well, Shockprowl got one night shift to get through, then he off for three days. Hip Hip!
Gosh do I want to be in bed! And it's only half 9! Or at least having a TF battle on my lounge carpet.

The snow, such as it was sadly didn't last long here. By the time I was into the first half-hour of my walk it had mostly stopped, and it was pretty much not lying anywhere. Somewhat disappointing in honesty.
However, the walk was good - saw a Cormorant on the canal, along with a couple of dozing ducks who looked most disappointed at seeing a human and ten am. I guess they were looking to sleep in a bit.
Got a surprise when I got to the mid-point of my usual walk though. The owner of the estate that makes up a lot of the area along one side of Falkirk has been doing a little bit of work. Where the path used to be just a small track through the wood, as digger and a couple of tracked dump trucks have been through and lain down a gravelled single track road. It seems to be part of a general scheme of Council funded "improvements" to the area. Rather a shame though. It does somewhat ruin the atmosphere a bit.
