"I used to think it was a terrible thing that life was so unfair. Then I thought, 'what if life were fair, and all of the terrible things that happen to us came because we really deserved them?' Now I take great comfort in the general unfairness and hostility of the universe." — Marcus Cole, Babylon 5 — A Late Delivery from Avalon

My mind can't cope with the large numbers of people in the world being affected by floods, etc. this week. However, this story about a small group of workers buried underground really makes me count my blessings. Talk about an ordeal. Let's just hope and pray they all make it through the months of waiting for rescue and return to daylight!
Little is known about this goblin beyond its dual role as an offensive weapon and teapot.
Alvand was almost jailed in 2003 for refusing to remove the [ 3.6 metre high ] concrete breeze block barrier, known among neighbours as "the Berlin Wall" and built despite the council refusing planning permission. He claimed the structure, topped with corrugated iron, was in fact a greenhouse and thus did not need consent.
I can't help but wonder that if someone is a civil engineer and already owns a property then they have the option of being able to afford to move to somewhere more isolated if they have such a strong desire for privacy.
Or maybe he should just he sectioned and put into isolation, that would keep him happy. Alternatively, maybe his neighbours shouldn't have ignored him when they moved in and became friends or something. Oh wait, communities don't exist anymore...

In all seriousness, I think it's disgusting that Rooney is apparently now earning £250K a week and 500,000 public service workers could lose their jobs by 2015. Also I hate the fact that Rooney can get a pay rise after publicly throwing his toys out the pram.

The problem for most of these footballers is they are so out of touch with reality, coupled with greedy agents on commission who generally needle and stir these things up so contracts get renegotiated and they get another fat payday.
