I've recently just gotten the first three issues of the animated comic and it's quite good fun. Dario Brizuela's the lead artist and it's pretty good work from him, with rotating back up artists and the stories are from the main writer of the show Marty Isenberg.
Well worth getting.

Picked up #1 and it was decent enough but dropped it in case Titan printed it, but it looks like they aren't. Will likely grab the trade.

If anyone is waiting on #6 it appears to have been stealth cancelled and is in the trade, which is due in April.
Glad I never picked up the singles.

If anyone really wants a #6 I think I read on the Shortpacked blog that it's been included with a toy. Probably cheaper to just get the trade though.

Chris Ryall told me via a one sentence email that it had been cancelled "as per Hasbro" whatever that means. But he said issue 6's story will be in the trade, which is a bit of a disincentive to buy individual issues.
That said, we don't know to what extent low sales of individual issues has brought about the cancellation.

I read somewhere else (possibly on another Hub thread) that Diamond is insisting that comics companies print a minimum quota of copies if they want their book to feature in Previews.
Previews (for anyone who doesn't know) is the monthly order catalogue which Diamond sends to retailers, and most likely you all know this. So book cancellations might be a bit more common place in future.
5,000 doesn't sound that great but I see it's a couple of thousand more copies than Time Wars was getting. I've been selling between about a dozen copies of TFAA.

That said, we don't know to what extent low sales of individual issues has brought about the cancellation. Unfortunately, it sends the message of : 'don't buy the singles, buy the trade', which is not very clever at a time when buyers may be reconsidering their comic buying habits in light of price increases and/or economic conditions. It's a dangerous precedent when dealing with a niche audience. I did note that #5 of Animated does include a 'next issue' blurb for #6. I wonder how the trade will be received. Fans on boards went apeshit when the animated movie trade had 3 extra story pages not included in the single issues release. How will they react when a TF trade comes out that has a whole extra issue? -Ralph

They're insisting your orders reach a minimum of $2500 retail value. Which is an incentive for companies to raise prices further.

I was actually starting to get into TFA: The Arrival when I discovered that it had been cancelled. I thought that issues 4 and 5 were the best issues of the entire run and was looking forward to issue 6.
Just out of interest, did anyone notice the cameo appearances of the Sunbow incarnations of Spike, Carly and Daniel Witwicky in issue 4?

Thanks for kicking the thread Zudobug. I knew about the Animated UK cancellation, but had no idea that the US comic have been cancelled as well. I was beginning to wonder when it was going to arrive. I thought the US comic was an enjoyable read and a great alternative to the doom-laden, decade long storylines of certain other TF comics.
I wonder if the comic cancellation adds support to the claim that Animated toy sales as a whole have been disappointing for Hasbro and the line won't be returning after the 2nd movie.
