I saw some of the original at Botcon. Even had a shot of Bogatan's. It's a fun wee figure but it's only about the height of a basic figure or the mass of a deluxe, so even acknowledging the yen rate $55 seemed a bit steep. I guess the license isn't cheap.

I like the size. Some how it would have been less impressive if it was bigger. I mean not just because it is a very simple toy, even if a more complex larger toy had been made I would have found it less desirable. I like how it sits on the shelf, it fits, it looks good. Maybe a Disney Transformer has to be small so as not look tacky. My parents don't even mind it living downstairs at the moment.

Courtesy of TFW2005Halloween Edition Mickey looks brilliant, the movie stuff we've mostly seen already, Devastator appears to have some kind of rash, a couple of new repaints, more Alternity Megatron and Bumblebee pics, and... is that a red and a green Skids in the corner? The Buzz Lightyear is probably the least inspired thing yet, it looks like something Disney just slapped the Transformer name onto in an attempt to sell more.

Only issue I have with Buzz is that I liked the idea of the robots being mechas controlled by the character. The oddness of a robot mickey dressed in a cosplay Optimus Prime costume really amused me. A robot Micket dressed in a cosplay Optimus Prime costume painted to look like a pumkin dressed up for Hallowean even more so. While Donald doesn't look as good I still liked the concept.
Based on the drawings Buzz just looks like Buzz. Hopefully the toy will be properly roboty.

It's not particularly original either, as Mattel have previously done at least one transforming Buzz - Zurg, too. Of course, the new film is out later this year, so I guess it's been done to tie in with that.
