Yeah, I've drawn the one person in the company I know *nothing* about. Some research by looking at his webpage has indicated that he may have been in to Babylon 5 eight years ago... So I could get him something related to that I guess.
Anyone got any other good gift ideas for £5??

Get them a tree!! who doesn't like trees? you could get some tree seeds, or nick a sapling from somewhere, and spend the money on some decent manure.

A few people have made it known that they would like a "£5 contribution to charity", but really, if people were doing things properly, the buyer would already know they want that!

Go to one of those many gimmicky gift shops that have shot up everywhere and get him a remote control tarantula or something. You can't go wrong with a comedy gift.

There's a couple of those kind of shops in Leicester that I frequent regularly. There's just something amusing about these kind of 'boys toys' that amuse both adults and kids alike.

Aha... I have found on his company intranet website a link to the National Lottery results page. Perhaps a £5 lucky dip entry would be a good idea??

heh... I'd considered that Karla I'm now informed that said person used to have a gambling problem... Maybe lotto tickets aren't the answer, hrm. edit: Aha... Got it, he mentions FPS games on his site, so I've got him a book about John Carmack and friends re. ID Software etc.

Ooh, I could be my own Secret Santa and I'll have an excuse (as if one were needed) to buy myself a Transformer.

In the spirit of the season, Secret Santa is about taking the opportunity to learn a little more about someone you don't really know... A gift voucher is hardly in the spirit of it!

It is if it's a voucher for a store you find out they really really like.

Well you should have used your time more wisely to get to know this person instead of fannying around on the internet asking us (who know him less than you do) for suggestions!

I did that, G! Did you not see my post above?? My original thought was with the Babylon 5 thing, I thought someone here may know about what sort of merchandising was still available (other than books). ANYWHOS... RIP Woolworths. Thank you for introducing me to Kinder Bueno 6 years before they were available mass market in England.

Well why don't you take this person out for a nice meal or a coffee and get to know them*/**.
*The flaw in this idea, however, is that what you spend on the coffee will leave you less with which to use for the actual present.
**Another flaw, depending on which way you swing your Secret Santa, is that said person may get the wrong idea about your intentions.
