I subscribe to Moffat's notion in interviews where he's of the opinion that the Doctor has no idea what age he is as it would be impossible to track considering he has no fixed point to reference himself against. So he just makes it up. RE: Who River Song was. [ spoiler] I like how it's left up to the viewer. [/spoiler] In other news, details of THE TRIAL OF A TIMELORD DVD: www.purpleville.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/rtwebsite/TrialOfATimeLord.htmThis could be my favourite home entertainment release ever! -Ralph

Maybe he misplaced it. Andy

Surely the first doctor was over 100 before he first regenerated. Time lords do seem to jump to being around 30 male each time - but how much do they age? Also was the first doctor the first or had he regenerated before [totally unknow], also could they tie it into the Mike Collins future doctor dressed in red/black suit [Incom DH #12].

I've only been dipping in and out of this new series, but I really enjoyed this 2-parter. Very well written with some excellent and well-executed concepts (if not entirely original) and performances from the cast (particularly David Tenant) were outstanding. Even Catherine Tate is hitting her stride with her character at this point.

He's been about 30 twice - Peter Davison and David Tennant! William Hartnell was the first Doctor.

I'm debating whether or not to buy this. On the one hand, Trial is notorious for being crap; on the other hand, I really want to hear the commentaries for it... And, of course, THIS:

Charles, it's quite, quite shocking. I once watched all 14 episodes on the bounce with a mate of mine at university (c93) I've not seen any of it since. And I'm dreading watching some of this to hear the commentaries.
On the other hand it does take that bloody tin off the shelf.

One of my all time favourite Who villains.

About once a year Ralph and I watch all 14 eps in one sitting with the aid of alcohol. Bloody amazing so it is! On a serious note, the time lord space station model and tracking shot at the start was fantastic. Andy

It's my favourite Who story with my favourite Doctor and I have extremely vivid memories of watching it on saturday tea-times. I remember having my first big chat with my dad about what death was after watching part 8. Yeah, as an adult, I can see flaws. Big huge gaping flaws, but I still love every minute of it, even the crappy bits. I have literally been waiting for this on DVD for years! I cannot wait! Also, it gives Andy and I another excuse for a booze-fueled TRIAL marathon! -Ralph

If anyone is thinking of picking up The Invisible Enemy DVD, I would say to hold off. Apparently an authoring fault on the master disc has scenes out of order on episode 3, according to folk on OG who have received their pre-orders.
Another fine cock-up from 2entertain!

I found some Doctor Who Merlin stickers in the street today. It was a sheet, not a packet, so some comic must have them as a free gift.

I was planning on giving this one a miss anyway - don't feel I'd get my monies worth from "Invisible Enemy". Karl

They were in the Daily Record and some Saturday newspaper as well- I've been handed no less than three sets of them by family and co-workers over the past few days accompanied by a speculative "hey, you like Doctor Who, right?". -Nick

I am re-watching The Aztecs this week, an episode a night. Oh, it's still good stuff. Well worth picking up, it's permanently in sales. Gripping stuff! It would be so nice of BBC Wales did a historical story without space aliens, just once.

It would be so nice of BBC Wales did a historical story without space aliens, just once. The Aztecs is fantastic stuff - the cast put in fantastic shifts there and the story works so well. I only have it on VHS, but an upgrade to DVD is inevitable I feel. And yes - a proper historical story would be absolutely fantastic. I'd love to see Tennant stranded in proper history, without space monsters at which to gurn. It is you who are false! Did she not come from within the tomb! Karl

The Aztecs was brilliant. It single-handedly pisses on people who try to dismiss the entirety of classic Who as being kitschy or camp (see also The Crusade).
