I've found myself, for years, when transforming a toy for the first time, to ensure that the head is the very last part to be transformed, because then the figure seems "real". Also, when applying stickers, the Autobot / Decepticon chest sigil is the last one to be applied, fopr the Rite of Autobrand / Deceptibrand.
Anybody else have any habits with their new toys?

Don't have any rituals like those, but, mine the characters of my TFs have very well established (within the mind of Shockprowl) ways of acting, friends, rivals, loyalties, etc. For example, Prowl, Jazz and Wheeljack are a little team that go off and do stuff. Jazz has quite a rivalry with Ravage. Bumblebee, Ironhide and Ratchet tend to hang out with eachother and they're Optimus's chaps. So nothing out of the ordinary, but I stick to these characterisations like glue.

Also, when applying stickers, the Autobot / Decepticon chest sigil is the last one to be applied, fopr the Rite of Autobrand / Deceptibrand. I used to do the exact same thing!! My main ritual was this: Since I never had very many Transformers, and followed the comic stories religiously, I set my own adventures in the far future where *all* the Transformers had been put into stasis and every so often (like a trip to the toy shop) I would take an existing Transformer (usually Bumblebee) with me and upon arriving at the toy shop I would pick whichever one was in "stasis" to be revived/freed when I got home. Oh, and Bumblebee had to stay in vehicle mode on the bus (AKA Interstellar Transport) as the bus driver (AKA Ship's Captain) wouldn't allow Transformers on the bus (AKA Interstellar Transport).

I like to see if the Transformer can scratch his bum in robot mode and if his head can be hidden for 'coward mode'. I also like to check if the character can perch on the shoulder of another robot.

Stickers must always be applied in numerical order.

Stickers must always be applied in numerical order. Andy That was another rule I followed! Except where an insignia sticker was not the last one.

When I got a new Transformer I always opened the right side of the box when removing it to see if there were any hidden weapons/accessories not visible through the box window.
Oh, and I did do the head thing as well, always liked the big reveal!

Back in the day, I would always read the tech spec first before opening the package. After the toy was transformed, the tech spec and character art would be carefully cut from the packaging and carefully placed in the relevant pile. The rest of the card would be binned but any styrofoam would be kept for a while to make 'bases' for the Transformers to hide in/defend/etc which would be steadily destroyed to replicate 'battle damage'.

Yes! I read the tech-specs first! I stuck them all on my wall, in rank order, beside my bed!
