WTF? Oh UK patrons, why did you not shower your love on The Dark Knight when you had the chance.

On the one hand I never saw that coming. On the other hand I really perhaps should have been expecting it, given that a large proportion of my work went absolutely nuts over this film. (No surprise that my work place is predominately female in gender then). Between the adults going bonkers over "Mama Mia" and them talking to each other about their children's inexplicable (to them) fascination with the "High School Musical" franchise I know more about popular cinema than I was really trying to learn this year..... I will see Mama Mia! at some point, because it looks unintentionally hilarious. Nothing, absolutely nothing will make me see a High School Musical thing though. Not even Eliza Dushka turning up naked at my door and offering any depraved act I want. Not even that will make me watch High School Musical 1, 2 or 3.

No, no, no. The figures are misleading; they didn't take inflation into account, so Titanic probably sold more tickets.
And besides, wasn't Mamma Mia re-released with subtitles for a karaoke edition? A cinema full of single women singing along to ABBA? My second worst nightmare.

There is also a 'sing-along' option on the DVD, apparently.

These things never do take inflation in to account. Of course that would mean Titanic wasn't highest either. Not sure what is. I know for North America it's Gone With the Wind but I don't think anyone's bothered to work it out for the UK.

When it looked like Mama Mia might do it, the distributors (Universal, I think) did a special two-for-one offer on tickets, too. Totally cheated.

The parental units have bought the Supah Deluxe DVD edition of Mama Mia! I now live in one of the 1 in 4 UK households that has a copy.

I don't see at as an Andu film.
No spaceships, gun battles, transforming robots or vampires.

I don't see at as an Andu film. No spaceships, gun battles, transforming robots or vampires. OMG spoilers! I had hoped that Brosnan was a vampiric transforming robot with a spaceship alt-mode that gets in a gun fight with Meryl Streep, but I guess that doesn't happen after all.

The thing is I have been challenged to watch it without the aid of fortifying booze.

I don't think the challenge said anything about getting blotto afterwards to forget the pain.

This is true.
Andu is to be supervised though to ensure he watches all of it (and the deleted scenes). However, the challenge does not state that Burns cannot be bockled ho ho ho.
