For me, it was a revelation, really. I'd never conversed with people 'the same as me' before, apart from a brief stint on TFans, which was ok, 'cept they're not as friendly as we are. Just to know there were other grown-up people who were as bizaro as me and smashed plastic toys against each other (etc) on a regular basis with no sense of shame was, well, a revelation. It was also handy to prove to Mrs Shockprowl that other grown-up folkes spend bazillion squids on toys as well as her husband. She still thinks we're all nuts though...

Men grow old, we do not grow up.
As for what I get out of the Hub - good banter, good friends and a lot of laughs!

I can talk to people on here who share the same interests as me. Because my entire family belong to the Anti-Transformer Brigade this is the only place where I can talk TF. There are other things though that I can talk about here that my family are not to interested in talking about like Sausages!

I get loads of top-quality swag at each Glasgow Hub meeting! I also get to banter back and forth with people who actually enjoy their hobby - which is a rare thing on the intarwebz.

Absolute comedy gold, and also meant I didn't end up winning the dreadful thing in my last place showing at the quiz the next day.
Gav taking one for the team that day!

Good people in general. This is probably the one Net community aside from Celtic Wrestling where I have met most of the posters in person, although I have had a longer impacting relationship with TMUK.

It's the sense of community we have here that I love the most, it's the TF site I feel most at home on.

Absolute comedy gold, and also meant I didn't end up winning the dreadful thing in my last place showing at the quiz the next day. Gav taking one for the team that day! Andy Not at all, in fact - I've read the book and written an accurate review of it: Dreamwave’s Transformers Vol. 2: War and Peace:Much like Michelangelo’s David or The Mona Lisa, what can be said about this masterpiece which has not already been said? Brad Mick, Pat Lee and Dreamwave have not only produced a terrific addition to the Transformers mythos, but have also managed to create a graphic novel which easily outshines the best of the comic book medium. Lovingly reprinted by IDW, who decided that allowing this classic tale to be condemned to obscurity would be considered a crime against humanity, this 6 part emotional rollercoaster of a tale proves that the Transformers franchise has all the elements for a true classic. Comic superstar Pat Lee’s pencils really shine throughout the series. The chunky bodies of the Transformers have never been rendered in such splendid style before. The poses chosen for our metallic protagonists may seem strange at first – but once you realise that Pat Lee is making a comment on society through interpretive dance – another layer of story folds into view. The book has depths which are not instantly visable. For instance the scene with Smokescreen’s rubsign really says a lot about judging your fellow man, and how we put a lot of importance on labels. The undulating storyline is an absolute triumph, and is sure to be a talking point in comic book circles for years to come. Brad Mick has weaved a fable so incredibly real; you almost forget that we are dealing with fictional robots. Some detractors may make snide remarks, saying that the storyline lacks any cohesion, and flip-flops from issue to issue – but what these idiots fail to grasp is that Brad Mick has pulled the wool over their philistine eyes. For those willing to dig a little deeper, and explore the character’s interactions – there’s at least 56 different stories going on at once. Finally, Transformers has a storyline which can stand up against anything offered in the entire span of human achievement. I suggest that all nay-sayers read this future classic once more, and commit it to memory. This will serve you well in the future, when your children ask you to help them with their classic literature homework. A+

I'd say that other folk have already identified much of what I get out of the Hub - good banter, the fact that it is one of the friendliest web-forums around(and I've been active on a fair number across the years), and the friendships I have made here.
