Today's job fair was another strike-out. Oh well.
I had a hunt for my MASTERFORCE DVD set as I have wanted to watch the ful series again but I can't find it. This did not make me happy.
In other news, the 'extra special' ASDA Cream Soda is so much better than the standard ASDA Cream Soda it's not funny. It is also cheaper.
I was using the loo in Borders after exiting aforementioned job fair. I trust the chat in the nearby urinal was having a good time. "Unh. Unh. Unnhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" he exclaimed, "Unh! Unh! Unnnnnnnnnh! Ahahahahhahahaa! Unnnnnnnnnnnnnnh."
Haven't had a drink this year yet. Hmmm.

No. He was standing at the urinal on the left, apparently having a splendid time. I found it difficult to concentrate on my own abulations.

And that was the first week back at work for 2009 done and dusted. I am rather glad that I have reached the end of it. Not that anything went particularly wrong you understand, more that it is difficult to readjust to the alarm going off at quarter to seven in the morning (I am not by nature a morning person), and a few things that haven't gone quite as smooth as I might have liked.
Fortunately I don't have to get up anywhere near so early for the next couple of days, and I have inherited a nice bottle of white wine that my boss won in a raffle. (She and her husband don't drink wine apparently so it was up for grabs - and as a confirmed salvage specialist I wasn't going to turn it down when offered).
I think I forsee a weekend that involves watching some more of The West Wing (as I have just started rewatching Season Two), some nice dinners and a glass of wine or two.

Beware. I find that when watching The West Wing it becomes very hard to stop and before you know it you will have sat through 8 in a row.

Yes, I'm finding that. I have currently reached a disc and a half into the season - which is about a disc further than I intended. It is one of only a handful of TV series that draws me in like that.

I got through the first 5 episodes of Season 3 this afternoon while tidying up. I must have seen these early shows a dozen times already but they are still so enjoyable.
January sees me in my ninth month of unemployment and Im beginning to fear that the shoulder operation has had a lot less effect than I initially thought. Its better, but Ive done so little with it and been on medication for so long it couldn't help improve. Anytime I try to start doing things like cooking, scrubbing, lifting, writing, wii-ing or even riding a bike/driving a car the old pain reappears with just enough force to tell me it'll get worse if I continue. Very depressing.

From what I've learned in training, having a moan is a very healthy, productive and human thing to do. As long as you don't do it in a Borders urinal. You never said a truer word than that about the addictiveness of The West Wing. The most unrealistic thing that strikes me about The West Wing is the fact that they talk to each other rather than communicating everything by e-mail. The series probably wouldn't be half as addictive to watch if they had gone down that route, I feel... Martin

I watched that Terrahawks video on Youtube several months ago when searching for Terrahawks videos. I then checked it up somewhere - maybe on Wikipedia, that it was first shown on a kids TV show and was released as a single (which didn't hit the charts).

The series probably wouldn't be half as addictive to watch if they had gone down that route, I feel... Martin The West Wing is far from realistic in many ways, after all - no-one actually talks like that, but it works so well on screen. The West Wing's dialogue isn't in anyway how real people actually talk, but it has an internal logic and consistency all its own that means that we accept that within the frame of the series this is how these people speak. I'd agree, a show about folk doing politics via email, memo and telephone call would probably be more realistic, but would be far less interesting. Also, Gordon Brown wants to enlist Optimus Prime's help to solve the economic crisis... Um..... No, I really have no response to that either. Karl

What a week.
In the first week of my thirties I've lost my job and my other half's mum has had a stroke (thankfully minor). 2009 already owes me big style.
