How do these scale up against the Marvel Legends? Fairly well actualy. Only got Superman, Ares and the lovely Wonder Woman (so far, God help me), but articulation wise they're pretty good, something like 20 or 21 points or artic'. No double knee joint, only swivel on the wrist, other than that they deffo on a par with Legends. Quality plastic, and so far they've got the facial sculpts spot on. |

Was going to start a thread for this, but decided to check back and see if one existed. So I'll jumpstart this one.
DC Universe Classics is the central point to my collecting (Having replaced Transformers some time ago). Love the hell out of these guys. Find them to be so much better than their Marvel Legends counterparts. More solid (at least until the last couple waves), better articulation that's not too much, without being anywhere near lacking.
That said, I'm not a completionist. I won't pick up a character I don't want unless I have to.
My focus, in order:
Green Lantern- I have every released Green Lantern so far. Including Kilowog, Arkillo, Stel, Nekron, and Parallax. I've also supplimented my display with DC Direct to fill those terrible holes (As well as two replacements for sub-par Mattel figures). I use the DCD Salaak, Kryb, Indigo, Saint Walker, and Brother Warth to fill their holes, and outright replace Mongul and Sapphire Wonder Woman with DCD (Both mattel versions are too small, plus DCD's Wonder Woman is just gorgeously sculpted).
I also suppliment my display with the alien lanterns from the GL Movie Masters. They don't clash nearly as badly as you'd think (And probably are the only versions of Isamot, Rot Lop Fan, and Galus Zed we're going to get)
Secret Six- ohgods I loooooove this book and these characters. Team's half done! Catman... CATMAN! I *still* can't believe Catman got made! Desparate for Jeanette, Scandal, and Ragdoll.
And Titans- second biggest part of my collection, next to GL. Don't think I have them all, but I got a fair few.
Beyond those, I just pick up characters I like, or feel I need.
I have high hopes for Club Infinite Earths. So far the majority are figures I want, over ones I don't.
Here's hoping we'll get to see Doomsday, Killer Croc, and Brother Warth from the oversized figures.
And soooo mad at the cancellation of DC All-stars. I WANT MY LARFLEEZ, DAMMIT!!! MIIIIIIIINE! Hopefully he'll be rolled over into the subscription.

I'm not too up-to-date with recent releases, but yes, I enjoy DC Uni very much. I basically have the original Justice league members, and a haul of their 'rogues'. Riddler is one of my faves. They're excellent figs that stand up very well alongside my Marvel Legends collection. Often there have been tense face-offs between DC and Marvel!
I've never heard of Catman before in my life!

I've never heard of Catman before in my life! As a toy, Catman was recently released in wave two of Batman Legacy (Alongside Silver age Batfirl, and Golden age Batman) As a character, he was introduced as another one of Batman's hundred or so non-memorable rogues, during the silver age. He was quickly forgotten about, until a writer dug him up and desided to use him to lampoon how silly a lot of the batrogues were. He'd become overweight and pathetic. Then Gail Simone got ahold of him and something happened... in the hands of one of the best writers in history, Catman became figgin' awesome. As a member of the Secret Six (One of the best comics DC has ever produced), Catman has had a meteoric rise in popularity. He's still fairly obscure, but he's extremely popular amongst hardcore fans. And along with Deadshot, he's one of the few Batman characters who's completely outgrown the bat.. (Bane and Gentlemen Ghost are still viewed as connected to him as being a central part of their characters, Even though they really don't have anything to do with him anymore) The Secret Six are a group of villains that came together in order to survive the Infinite Crisis (In the comic miniseries Villains Unite). They're not heroes by any means. They're mercinaries, but have sort of developed a small bit of ethics. They took it upon themselves to rescue a little girl who'd been kidnapped, and while being hired for one thing, they found a bunch of enslaved Amazons and chose to free them instead. The Secret Six were formed by Scandal Savage, daughter of Vandal Savage, and is composed of Catman, Deadshot, Bane, Ragdoll, and Jeannette/Silver Banshee. And in the past has had Fiddler, a Parademon, Mad Hatter, Harley Quinn, and Cheshire as members. CatmanSecret Six |

I used to be huge in marvel, and didn't care for DC at all. Then something strange happened... all the decent talent left Marvel and went to DC, and DC got interesting while Marvel started doing stupid things like letting Grant Morrison ruin X-Men, and killing Cap.
At one time, I thought the worst thing to happen to comics, was Bill Jemas taking over Marvel as editor in chief. Then I realized he was protecting us from Joe Quesada all along, and evereything went form bad, to complete rubbish when *he* took over.
DC has done their share of stupid things, like Batman's non-death (Which in and of itself was one of morrison's idiotic ideas).
But all in all, DC for me is a better quality. The stories tend to go places and have substance and bte, while Marvel is too shock and awe, and sensationalized. It just reeks of "What can we do to shock everyone next? Who can we kill next motnh to boost sales, and bring back a few weeks later?
Marvel still has it's high points. Great Lake Avengers is brilliant. Runaways was about the best thing they had (And surprisingly avoided Marvel screwing with them). And until Civil War, Young Avengers was also brilliant.
Until Ultimatum, Ultimate Spiderman was one of the best comics I ever read (Haven't been able to read much past that, so I really can't comment).
Though IMO, both companies need to fall back and pull away from these massive company wide crossover mega events. Used to be, we'd get one every couple years. Now each company seems to do one twice a year. I'm tired of Blackest Crisis, and Civil Invasions and the likes.
But all that's off topic.
I just wish Hasbro and Mattel could share the Marvel and DC lisences.
Marvel excusively produces 3.3/4" figures for both, and Mattel exclusively produces 6" figures for both.

I agree with you on the Shock and Awe, and a Cross over every 5 Minutes problem. I got into Marvel again after, gosh, 20 years away from it at about the beginning of Civil War. And I've loved the Dark Reign arch. I love a big cross over, but I'm starting to realise that when you have one every 5 Minutes, it takes something away from them. I've eased back off Marvel of late, following Siege really. I am, however, looking forward to Avengers Vs X-Men I hope they do a good job with it. You've sparked my interest in DC, my dear CJ, I may have to have a look-see. It's just finding the time these days!
Oh, and I'm sure, CJ, that you meant to put the awesome Sentry as one of your Marvel high-points! Everyone on here LOVES the Sentry! Especially Doc' and Big Phil! ;D

If you decide to check out anything DC, I suggest picking up Identity Crisis. Great read. A story arch that stands alone, but has some of the larger consequences to hit the DCU.
(Just don't get Identity Crisis confused with Crisis on Infinite Earths, Infinity Crisis, and Final Crisis.)
Would also suggest Green Lantern. Starting good starting points there are Green Lantern Corps: To Be A Lantern, Green Lantern: Secret Origin, or Green Lantern: Emerald Dawn.
The Sinestro Corps War is where it's at, but you really need some build up before you get there.
And I know what you mean about the big crossoers loosing their specialness when there's one every month. One of the most awesome events I ever read (And still stands at the top of my favorites list) was the Age of Apocalypse. It was the first time anyone's really told a story like that. But if it was just one in a string, it wouldn't have been anywhere nearly as awesome.
As for Sentry? I've never read anything he's been in, so I can't judge the character personally. But from a visual and super-power standpoint, he seems very boring, and everything I've heard about the character doesn't really peak my interest and makes me want to read about him.
I'm all about the Squirrelgirl, man. It's all Squirrelgirl and Molly Hayes.
