Having complained much over the years about McDs not doing a breakfast sandwich without egg in I was forced to try their limited edition Bacon & Sausage sandwich.
VERY disappointing. Roll tasted like cardboard :-(

When Burns and I indulged in McD's while in London, neither of us went for that option, we sensed disappointment would be the outcome.

I enjoyed some very nice sausages that I chopped up and added to a pizza last night. I was clearly way too tired though as this morning a couple of my finger tips are covered in small knife cuts. It was worth it though.

They have protein. Ratchet stated in Marvel TF that sausages have protein. This must be where the great Hub tradition of sausages comes from.

Yes, which is why they can be made with a variety of meats and herb seasoning. But not Quorn.

Mrs Shocks is a vegetarian, and she dislikes Quorn sausage-likes. She'll eat them, but only there's nothing else. I think they taste like paper. I like a quorn mince though. And a lovely Lloyd Grossman sauce.

Quorn sausages are the third party option. They look like the real thing and in many ways surpass the original, but they'll never have the proper brand name on the packet.
I'm vegetarian too. I love a quorn based Cumberland sausage, but it's been so long since I had a real sausage that I couldn't compare the taste if I tried.
However as far as I'm concerned the quorn jumbo sausage rolls you can get now are just like the Ginsters ones I had as a kid. For me, describing a vegetarian sausage as a sausage is more about having a convenient way to label the product rather than promoting it as a substitute for an actual sausage. You can keep those, or rather the pig can keep them.

I like quorn sausages, and yes, they are proper sausages. I look forward to the day when they have found a way to make an equally satisfying veggie version of steak, pork chop, bacon, etc. But sausage and burgers are much easier to fake, as by being ground up they've already lost the consistency, shape and texture of proper meat... and you never can tell how much of it _is_ meat, and what kind of meat it is...
