Aye.
Sacked my network subscription. Can't justify giving Vinnie Mac anymore money after those cuts.

make it worse when they bring wrestlers back for 1-2 shows a year and pay them a couple of million to appear once, but are willing to sack off people who work every day. not to mention the fact they are running massive money spinning shows in Saudi Arabia, who at first banned all their female wrestlers, and when they relented made them wear full jumpsuits!!

AEW - Double or Nothing was grand.
That Stadium Stampede match was brilliant!

AEW - Double or Nothing was grand. That Stadium Stampede match was brilliant! It was a really entertaining show - I thought the MJF and Jungle Boy match was superb on the undercard. The Stampede was a blast. I'm not sure I would want that sort of wrestling all the time, given how comedic it was in places, but it felt like it was the perfect feel good, fun match for right now. Pretty seismic week in terms of AEW.
Glad that Kenny Omega is champ, now we can start the long build up of Adam Page to take it off him.

I hear a lot about AEW these days. Has Vince behaved so poorly that WWE is beginning to lose its complete dominance of the wrestling world?

It's not likely to be slip any time soon. But yes, cutting staff during the pandemic when posting record profits, not firing wrestlers who have been involved in grooming and predatory sexual practices, demanding independent contractors hand over twitch/cameo accounts to him so the WWE can profit. Not providing healthcare...the list goes on.
AEW is also a better written product, just needs to get its women's division into shape.

Tribute ep for Brodie Lee (Jon Huber) was very emotional, again Jericho played a blinder on commentary.

I have now seen a 'Royal Rumble'. Best thing about it was the screens with enthusiastic fans on them. Sorry to say, chum, that I have not been converted to the wrestling cause. The first match was dull. The ladies 'Rumble' was the good bit as they had distinctive outfits and distinct characters so you knew who was on and could pick who to root for (or who would get gubbed). The second match was fine up until the forklift truck bit and then it dragged and I stopped caring. Did it ever end? The men's rumble was rubbish. Indistinct men in pants wilting like mincing daffodils and it went on and on and on and on. Had I been watching solo I would have switched off long before the end.
The only wrestlers who made much of a positive impression on me were Reginald and the enormous chap in the suit standing by the ring in the men's rumble.
I appreciated getting to watch something different from my usual fare and it was fun in company but...I won't be back. Sorry!
ALSO: WHERE WERE ROBOCOP AND CATWEAZLE??

Omos is the enormous chap.
Glad you stuck around for it, it's s shame we couldn't have done it in person, rumble viewing parties are always good fun.
Fun fact Ralph saw the chronicle doc on Bianca Belair (or Belinda Blair for our purposes) and hated her, which made bits of the women's Rumble a challenge for him.
I think Catweazle has now retired and Robocop...well I was shocked he wasn't number 30.

Poor Ralph. This is not the best time to dip his toes into professional wrestling, especially the WWE. But even giving allowances for lack of a live crowd and the obvious piped in crowd noises (although WWE are guilty of this even with a full arena, no?) this was still a pretty poor PPV. They really need to change the Royal Rumble rules - too many near eliminations or people hanging outside the ring because they rolled out under the ropes or delay their entrance. And for the love of god WWE get rid of Michael Cole on commentary and stop referring to chairs and steps as steel. I get that these things are for the kids watching (or India who as a market still seems to believe the Kayfabe), but credit the audience with some intelligence. It's not the 80s anymore. On the plus side- Seeing Edge and Christian back together was A+++++

Oh I was cock-a-fucking-hoop when Christian appeared. Highlight of the night,
Also, I loved Omos in the Rumble when folks were howking out AJ Styles and he just caught him. So funny how it was staged.

Enjoyig AEW - but why is Ryan Nemeth getting tv time, he's just meh and his facials last week when he was tapping out to Pac were cringeworthy,
For some reason I continue to watch what is objectively the worst wrestling program on tv - NXT UK.

I had the privilege of stepping back into a ring before the pandemic hit. I had been hitting the gym, dropping weight and Edge's comeback prompted me to have a stab at retraining and seeing where it went. I'm only 43...
I have no idea when anything will start up again. Pandemic aside, there has been some other business that has meant for promotions, training schools etc ironing out safegaurding policies. A long time overdue.
I wasn't into Wrestlemania at all this year, though the Reigns VS Edge VS Bryan match had my interest the most. Considering those guys were sidelined for various reasons, seeing them main eventing a mania card was pretty decent! I would have been happy no matter the victor.
AEW is fun. I like The Inner Circle and them now being babyfaces is a bonus. I think I know Judas by Fozzy word for word...

I have now experienced Wrestlemania. Night 1 was ok, night 2 was really boring. I would have quite happily switched off if not watched in company. I am a wrestling tv novice but a lot of it fell really flat for me. Only the stick fight pepped my interest though as it was advertised as a drum fight it was a shame to see the drums not, er, used. Far too many 'just pick up a chair' moves. The Rumble had people being attacked with forklift trucks!
The Pirate theme was, er, ignored.
I thought Royal Rumble was much more fun to watch. It had some storylines, characters and wackyness. I'd give that a go again, in company. Not sure I would do Wrestlemania again, unless I was in someone's livingroom being plied with copious drinks!

The Royal Rumble is the PPV I always show folks new to wrestling. Easiest to get people into and there's generally someone to catch the eye and get behind.
Next year we'll have a proper Rumble party.

Looks like the post-Wrestlemania roster cull has begun. "WWE has come to terms on the release of Samoa Joe, Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Mickie James, Chelsea Green, Tucker, Kalisto, Bo Dallas and Wesley Blake as of today April 15, 2021. We wish them the best in all of their future endeavors."
