As is well known, the Ladybird TF books are the only true TF continuity. Discuss.
Also, if anyone has links to recordings of the audio tapes, post them here. The goal is to find every tape and make them accessible firstly to the Hub and then - the world!

I have some, but I will have to convert them somehow. I know I have the movie. The other ones I'm certain I own are american so I do not know if they are part of the true continuity.

I'd love to know the reason why the Animated theme tune is so similar to the Ladybird version. Some strange rights issue? The composer is a fan? Some person or persons went through the previous versions for ideas? Animated ties in to Ladybird continuity? Remarkable coincidence?

I have Laserbeak's Fury in my drawer here. If anyone has any suggestions for how to convert it to mp3 without access to a microphone, let me know.

I'm afraid I don't have any Ladybird tapes to offer up I don't think, but this is an excellent idea. The Ladybird incarnation of Transformers should be more widely experienced.

The Ladybird books are great in the way they are the only Transformers narrative, I think, that uses the toyline 'continuity' as its basis. Powermaster Optimus Prime stories set on Nebulos offer something different.

I'm pretty sure they are the only "official" TF stories that bother to use the toy story to any great degree. Andy The illustrations for the Corgi Adventure Game Books are toy-based. I think I have all the Ladybird cassettes, but no way to convert them. |

I wasn't referring to the art - after all the comic has had toy friendly illustrators - most notably Mike Collins & John Ridgway (although Will Simpson was more in line with the toys than most) but rather the overall storyline mirrored that which was given in the toy backgrounds/tech specs.

I can only vaguely remember one of the Ladybird books. It was about Hot-Rod getting some new gold wheel-trims i think. I also remember from the tape that Trigger-Happy sounded really angry when saying that they might need the Autobots for target practice.

I always thought the art for the two Magnus/Galvatron books was so poor in comparison with the first four books set in the 84/85 era.

Yeah the Mike Collins/Mark Farmer team were the best, though the last two books art was decent enough I thought.

I can never find DECEPTICONS UNDERGROUND. Now I come to think about it, I also lack DECEPTICON HIDEOUT. I used to have it but lost it.

I was reading them online yesterday and the Decepticon hideout art is horrible, but quite charming i think. Galvatron's outstretched hand in one picture looks like it's been horribly mangled.

Remember a few Hubs ago when we did a read through of the Marvel comic stories in order? We should do that with the Ladybird books.

Sounds good to me. Shall we start with Autobots Lightning Strike? I think the first 3 came out at the same time, but I remember seeing a 3-pack of all of them and ALS was at the front. Reason if reason were needed!
