I was all set to come in here and spout off for a page or two on my arse-clenchingly terrifying driving lesson in the rain down busy roads at rush hour around the largest school in the district, but suddenly I can't remember anything about it.

No, no, no. You've got the blue monster all wrong. Look at the video at 1:40 - the blue monster is the only one questioning the environmental safety of nano-things - only he has noticed that the replicating nanobots are turning the world to grey goo.
He also points out, quite rightly, that a space elevator is not actually possible.
Maybe Nanoman will save us...

I witnessed more incompetance at work today courtesy of the gaffers.
Early last week I asked the manager in charge of me how many paid holidays I had left to take. He showed me an official piece of paper and read it. It said that I only had half a day's holiday left. With that in mind I booked off the second half of my shift that Friday. I come into work today and the same manager comes up to me and shows me another official piece of paper and tells me that I had no holidays left at all. So now I find that I've lost four hours wages and on the blacklist of people who have had unauthorised time off work.
And who do they blame for this whole mess? Me!

What a fucking twat.
No wonder the morons in charge did not want a union. That's the kind of malpractice that could nail them to the wall.

What the christ? Thats insane? Do you have any sort of signoff system where your boss has to sign a piece of paper / tick a box?

No such thing I'm afraid.
In another turn of events I also discovered that there was something dodgy about the recent redundancies they made. It turned out that the people they made redundant weren't the people with most time off and warnings as the head manager had told us but rather the people with the most time off and warnings who were not grasses and gaffers men. People who had committed more offenses within the company were exempt from redundancy because they were arsehole creepers / brown-noses (whatever you want to call them). This actually makes my job less secure now because I am a known union member who has no intention of creeping up the gaffers arses on a regular basis.

Sorry to hear that mate. Sounds well dodgy.
Start documenting everything if you haven't already been doing so. Nothing makes an employer's HR department start to sweat than the possibility of going to tribunal.

These guys may be of service to you: www.thomasmansfield.com/Even if you don't wish to use their services - request a couple of booklets / download and print some of their literature and leave it lying around your work place. If it's good enough to shit Charles Dunsten (sp) of Carphone up, it'll sort your bosses out a treat!

I look forward to the voyage to the Kingdom of Fife tomorrow evening.
As to Space Elevators, the thing is so far no-one has promised to build one that goes ding when it gets to the destination. And an elevator that doesn't go ding seems somehow less elevatorish...
