Nope. Optimus Prime might be a latin name, true - but it's not a human name per se like Joe, or something. The answer is: Ratchet. Yes, Ratchet. Bob Budiansky specifically said he named Ratchet after the character from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. So - Ratchet is named for a woman Pete |

Yes, come to think of it, you're right. But that was in the book. I think in the Kubrik film she comes out as Ratchet. In any case, details are unimportant when considering whether or not I'm right about something Pete |

You can't really pick out Ratchet as the first because there were three others the same year: Cliff Jumper, Ian Hyde and Troy L. Breaker.
